Just to clarify, I don't think the OP even stated what PSI his were:
I did mention that ours were at 38:
I still need to do the chalk test on mine and see what I come up with. So far still really liking the A/T3's.
Thanks, that's good to know. I plan on keeping an eye on them. I did find that one bolt was missing from the front when I first removed it... so at least now I have four fasteners instead of three! This is an aftermarket skid plate that the previous owner replaced the thin OEM one with.
I...
Hey guys, when I tried to remove an aftermarket skid plate on my Xterra, one weld nut broke off and the other bolt snapped. I have recently learned about Rivnuts and just used a couple to replace these broken weld nuts. I drilled out the holes and installed two of them.
Here's one after...
Well it is SALT lake city :(
I think the problem with the weld nuts is that the rear crossmember was absolutely packed with sand, keeping any moisture in there too. Guessing the previous owner of my Xterra passed through some sand traps. Or a river or two. But actually, most of it is surface...
Well, the rivnuts were the ticket. Got the first one installed smoothly, it was pretty easy.
Then I broke the bolt extractor off inside the drilled out bolt.
Ended up drilling this and enlisting the help of the BFH to knock the weld nut out.
So now I have two rivnuts in the rear...
Well, I cut the head of that spinning bolt off with a dremel...
I had sprayed the other one with some PB blaster hoping that it would come out easy. It did not.
Sheared the damn bolt right off. Wasn't even wrenching on it that hard.
Now I'm trying to figure out what to do. I have a hole...
Not a problem at all, always open to learning something new. I have them at 38 cold, the 40 was what I read after they warmed up, should have been more specific.
I just got these last week, this was our first day trip with them, and I prefer running tires a little higher than the door placard...
Just took our first trip with new A/T3's this past weekend, and both my wife and I noticed how quiet they were. Couldn't really hear them at all over other wind and engine noise in the Xterra. Ours were 38-40 PSI.
Interesting, A/T3 was cheaper for me. Sadly there was no C range available in the sizes I was looking at, although according to the link I posted above, the C range A/T3 is only 2ply X 1000 denier, not 2ply X 1500 denier.
So, for your size and load range the sidewall difference between the S/T...
I was in the same situation, worrying about which tires to buy. After reading a lot of reviews, I decided on the A/T3's. Although the S/T Maxx looked like a great choice too, I took an honest look at what I wanted and how I'd use the vehicle, not what other people wanted or if the tires didn't...
Probably time for an update to this thread... maybe I should change the title and turn it into a "progress" thread instead?
I did the SMOD bypass several weeks ago. A while after that I noticed a slight leak that I think is AT fluid, so I'm still trying to track down exactly where that is...
Searching the the aforementioned xterra forum, I cannot find ANY examples of people running 245 width tires. Here's the only thread I can find about 235's. And here's my thread about searching for AT 255's.
As I mentioned I would have liked to get a 255/85, but price and availability pushed me...
Welcome from Utah! +1 on thenewx.org. It's a great forum and complements this one nicely.
If I were shopping for 6 tires, I would look really hard at the Discount Tire Direct ebay store. They currently are running a promotion where you can get $100 off a $400 purchase. And you can use that...
They did turn out well. I do like the appearance and they have good grip when standing on them, even when wet. There were a couple of bubbles that were the result of pinholes in the welds of the sliders. When the parts are heated in the oven, it generates pressure in the tube and this air...
Haven't gotten them yet, but just ordered AT/3's in a similar diameter (285/75R16). Do you have the full size spare under the truck? Any trouble fitting it up in there?
I have the same sliders and ended up powder coating them. They look great and the wrinkle finish that I had them use has...
