How great that you are getting the young one out and about, and doing it in a really neat rig...

Sounds like you want 2 different things...
Jump pack in case your main battery goes flat....Antigravity or something like that would be best...goes give you some device charging also
If you mainly want to run aux devices at night and NOT use your main battery then look at the Goal Zero battery...

best headlamp I have ever owned, given them as gifts and never heard a bad thing.
Super tough as I am really hard on gear.
Super bright and use a SINGLE AA battery which makes it easy to carry spares or a 12v or solar charger.
Put gas in the tank and go....
The places you want to go and the things you want to see will tell you what to upgrade. Along with how long to stay out...
Otherwise a nice small air compressor that clips onto the battery so you can air down and air back up will really help.

I am currently 500 lbs UNDER GVW and loving life...
Now of course I am still tipping the scales at almost 7000 but for a 3/4 ton Burb all is well.
Once every couple of months I do unpack and repack my rig thinking about what can go vs stay...sometimes I add gear but there is thought to keeping...
No van for me...sucked water in the engine...rocking a 70 Burb no, old iron all the way...

I would pick up a sheet of aluminum and make a skid plate for under the oil pan and just go have fun.
Gravel roads are everywhere and often times I have been suprised by on old econobox out on some "trail"
