    Clark Camper - 2000 E450 Ambo

That's a cool layout on the Sprinter, though I can see how you outgrew it. My son is little though, so it could give me a few years... Good luck wih the Ambo build!

White Turtle III - Ford Transit - The build and adventure!

That's pretty darn good mileage. I get that in my Transit Connect if I don't keep the highway speed down. I'm farther from starting my desired full-sized build than I thought a few months ago, but I still spend a disproportionate amount of time wondering about whether it is worth trying to...

White Turtle III - Ford Transit - The build and adventure!

Nice! How much gas did you find the Espar using when you had it running for extended periods. Could you tell?

    The best adventure travel boots.

I didn't notice before I replied, but I'm pretty sure it's a spam account bumping any thread related to footwear. Oh well, I hadn't seen it before so I found it interesting to see what other people wear. There's more variety than the other things I do where it's very clear what kind of shoe/boot...

Anyone add a jumpseat/3rd seat to cargo van build?

I haven't done it, but you can with the correct hardware. The rear seats for my Transit Connect just bolt on rails directly to the flat floor load. They're individual, fairly small, and fold up, so they might an ideal jumpseat for this type of build. You would just need to make sure that you...

    Socks

I have numerous Smartwool and Darntough socks, but my go too are Costco's Kirkland Merino Hiking Socks. They don't seem to be up on the website right now, but they come out to 3-4 dollars a pair. They don't last quite as long as Darn Toughs, but I wear them hard and get a year or two of wear out...

    The best adventure travel boots.

I find that my very favorite all around travel "boots" are low cut alpine approach shoes. Basically low cut hiking boots. They're lighter than boots, but tougher than trail runners and stiffer and supportive underfoot. I appreciate that as I frequently carry a ~35 pound pack. I wouldn't jog in...

    Putt Step Van Build

I don't have much to say (other thank those looking like some robust drawers), but I've loved reading through this thread. Thanks for posting!

Floorplan for sleeping three with a bathroom

Ooh, that's a fun tool. I know what I'm doing this afternoon. Thanks! I will measure the wheelbase sometime soon. The van belongs to the organization I work for and they are thinking about upgrading, but the guy I talked to didn't know all the particulars. It's just one option though. If it...

Floorplan for sleeping three with a bathroom

Has anyone seen any particularly good floorplans for vans that sleep three and contain a bathroom? I currently have a Transit Connect with a removable folding platform in the back. It was great for my wife and I and worked when my son was an infant, but now the platform is too small, so I'm...

    Isuzu vs Canter

One thing that might influence chatter is that Isuzu doesn't offer a 4x4 option in the US. Your mention of Gumtree leads me to assume your in Australia, but for mentions on an international forum like this not having a 4x4 in a major market probably means less Isuzu builds.

Books on DIY expedition camper builds

I just picked up Dolde's book as there was a used copy on Amazon, so I'll take a look. The US/Canada would be the vast majority of the vehicle's use, and really my main planned uses are as a 4 season, rough road, self-sufficient camper rather than a true overland vehicle, so offroad capability...

Books on DIY expedition camper builds

I've definitely been compulsively reading build threads here and have learned a ton. With the books, I was looking for something that might be a bit more systematic so that I wouldn't overlook something that people forgot to mention (or just thought it was too basic to bother). For specifics...

Books on DIY expedition camper builds

I'm looking for recommendations for books on building an expedition camper. So far the two I've found are Wiggleworth's "Build Your Own Overland Camper" and Dolde's "Motorhome Self-Build and Optimization", which has just appeared in English in the last year or so. Does any one have experience...

Build your own Fuso FG6 4x4 based camper/overlander!

I've slept in tents in the snow on a good number of occasions there was a lot of down involved though. Ive also done a good number of nights in my car/van in ski hill parking lots. There were many where I was actually too warm in my sleeping bag. Somehow when thinking of a family camper build...

Some Fuso shots from the 2017 Abenteuer Allrad show, Bad Kissingen, Germany

What's the top of cab fascia for? Strictly aero? I can't tell for sure, but the storage doesn't appear to be it's full depth.

Build your own Fuso FG6 4x4 based camper/overlander!

I do admire all the lifting hardside campers, but I'm not sure it's a good idea for me for two reasons: 1. It would just be lots more engineering which would mean more time and complication and longer before I finished and got to using it. 2. If I wanted a bed over the cab, I can only gain at...

Build your own Fuso FG6 4x4 based camper/overlander!

Thanks. I more meant "How well does it work?" I could see from the build thread how it was intended to, but couldn't tell if everything worked well after you put it together. Glad to hear that it is. Cool. My worry with the popup is heat loss/insulating it. I like your design with a single...

Build your own Fuso FG6 4x4 based camper/overlander!

Thanks so much for this thread. I'm in the "expanded family, we no longer fit in a van" situation too, and have been dreaming of a Fuso/Isuzu build. This thread has been great and very informative. A few questions: How has the front bed extension worked? How much higher would you have needed to...

Wood frame campers...?? How do they hold up?

Did you buy premade panels or did you make your own? If you bought them, where did you get from? If you made them, what materials did you use (esp. which xps foam did you use)? Thanks a lot. I'm trying to figure out if a build like this is in the cards for me in the next few years.
