We saw the Juicy van when we were in Australia and I wondered when they would make their way over here to the USA. Personally we rented a Wicked Van for the fun of the graffiti paint job, price and we got to write on the inside with a sharpie :)
I like the idea of a rental company putting...
Make sure to reply with your location as there might be cool expo folks nearby that will let you borrow a pad to try.
The pad I like best of all that I have owned is my Exped MegaMat 10....it is thick, you can control the firmness and the square sides mean wide folks won't feel like they are...
Great pics and quality write up with directions. I like that I can scribble some notes from your post and get my family up there and hike that canyon.
Very cool that you let the dogs play in the water, so many dog owners try to keep the pups clean and fun free when traveling, nice that you let...
When you compare to the top of the line National Luna fridges then the price isn't horrible.
I wonder about in vehicle use if the entire outside case gets warm...you would have to make sure you had good all around airflow.
If my ARB ever goes out then I will have to give them a look over.
Hey...
cab access to the camper is the point on which much money will hinge.
If you could give up that then your options are much more plentiful.
I for 2 people a van or truck camper is a great setup, again cost relates to that need for cab access to the camper
The best advice I can give is to buy...
So they are selling every Wrangler they make....and they want to mess with it?
Sure why not, sounds like a great idea. Take something that the buyers are very happy with and muck it up.
Honestly if it was me thinking back on when my boys were 5 & 2 and knowing what I know now....
I would find a used Sportsmobile and sell it after the trip...or keep it.
The problem with a truck/camper setup is you don't get much floor space for the little ones to spread out and play...and at...
For Jeep itself I am happy,
even for Chrysler I am happy...
but for society in general I am in awe of how many cars get sold every year in the USA...and all the great rigs that end up crushed.
The best enviro thing we could do would be to NOT mine new metal and keep the old iron on the road with...
I use Sanyo Eneloops in a AA-D adapter and they work great for all my D cell devices..
The eneloops hold a charge for a long time when not in use, have plenty of power and since I carry a 12vdc charger in my rig I can recharge while driving on the trail during the day
I have been using Ozi here in the USA for years....love it but there is a learning curve.
Not sure how it works in in Canada but here in the USA the gov gives out all the maps we want for free. I download them by county within each state I want to travel. Then I look for the datum info and tell...
I have one in my Burb and when I camp solo it is no big deal...when the wife comes along I tear off a bit of duct tape and over the light it goes at night :)
I am lucky that my old burb is all metal and double lucky that my buddy Nick had a set of canvas curtains his mom sewed up with magnets all around the edges. Works great (not as well as his new black ones though) and keeps plenty of light out and warmth in (during the winter)
Not to be a nit-picker....but oh well let's pick a nit....
What about all those great folks that drive something OTHER than the 4 makes you list?
The Camel Trophy used all the same vehicles in order to make the event about the TEAMWORK and people instead of the rigs.
That is tough without a...
Well I am working hard to not only spend less money (failing pretty well there) but to also declutter and simplify my life.
This leads to going through my stuff and looking for things to sell off, give away or toss.
So for anyone who likes to work on Ham Radios I have a gem that you are...
I have found Goodwill or other thrift stores to a be a great source of small fabric bags for storing things like rachet straps.
For 50 cents a bag I can get a huge range in sizes from small enough to fit 1 stap to large enough for 4.
Also really good for sorting tool bags with smaller bags inside.
I tried moving my RTT around the roof rack of my FJ cruiser.
The front was a great option and I had the ladder come down in front of my ARB bullbar.
However a buddy who had a changing room under his tent liked it off the back to enclose that area.
In order of importance:
Cigars, lots of good cuban cigars.....
Fridge for cold beverages and no soggy food
Good chairs
Propane fire pit so we can be warm in the am and not have to deal with fire bans or putting out a fire
Exped MegaMat 10 sleep pads...as good as sleeping at home for me
