What an adventure! I went to my local trailer supply today to research a new axle ( Franklin Trailers in Berlin, NJ) and was left with a perplexed notion of what it takes to get an axle... The person I dealt with didn't seen to understand that I needed a custom axle as he kept saying that the...
I'm going to be replacing the axle on my Bantam to match the bolt pattern on my toyota and for ease of mind as I don't know what the original axle has been through the past 70 years
I believe that the spring center to spring center is 36" and the hub face to hub face measurement is 49 3/4"
I...
Does anyone know what the measurements are for the Bantam t3-C axles, in particular the distance between the hub faces and also the spring centers?.... I think they were the same across all the military 1/4 axles such as M100, T3, Willys.... Normally I would get under my trailer and measure them...
I've ran these bars in the past.. They feel like the thule bars, just a bit cheaper in quality... I had a RTT on them
And I typed in L bracket in Home Depot and this was what came up.....everything you need is here.... Get the thickest one you can find so it doesn't flex or bend.... Mine are...
Step one.... Get this
http://www.prolineracks.com/proline-gmr165-rain-gutter-racks.html
Step two, get rid of the stock crossbars.. They will flex with any load in the basket
Step three... Attach the backing plate on the awning to the ends of the new crossbars with L brackets that are 3 bucks at...
Finally had some time to drill out the holes and spray on some bedliner on the 1/8 plate that will bolt to the bottom of the frame in the rear for the bike hitch and also to stiffen it up a bit... The 4 holes in the middle are for the hitch itself.... Waiting for it to get a bit warmer so I can...
I lived in NM for 8 years and Goose Lake was a frequent location for me... Those pictures makes me miss it terribly!.... Last time I was there, which was appx 2005ish, there was ZERO water in the river
if it means anything, I have the TJM awning and its exactly the same as the ARB and the others so.........Not sure if that applies to the tents as well
thats how I do it with the Yakima bars on my bantam trailer... I did line up the clamp and the bar with a marking pen so it lines up each and every time
It never ends!
Big sale at Harbor Freight on top of the cheap prices they usually have so went ahead and picked these up to install when the weather gets nicer... It's pouring rain at the moment...
Now that I'm pulling a trailer, I had forgotten I wouldn't be able to carry my bike rack anymore...
One person can set it up very easily.... Take it out of the bag, unfold the legs, pull it up forward, lock the legs and you're pretty much done, other than staking it down and whatnot...... My issue was that the legs folded in awkwardly and at an odd angle which didn't allow it to fold onto...
What a long day!
I would never ever wish 70 years worth of rust on my worst enemy! I emerged victorious but golly gee, I had my *** kicked...... The torches had to come out, the saws all came out, the breaker bars came out, the air hammers came out...after all said is done, it rides so much...
Ive gotten all the parts in, a local garage has graciously allowed me to use a section of their back room so i can work on the trailer out of the rain and the cold on monday.... Needless to say im excited!
If it still sways heavily after this... Ill be bringing down the tent to just above the...
