I would love to find a front carpet kit but no one is willing to make one for some reason. I do not understand , the same patern has been used for way over a decade and they are still making the van.
What gives?
I saw that when you put it up, seems like a pretty good deal.
I sold a 2wd 1990 in denver two years ago. Ads on craigslist and Samba.
Could have sold it three times in the first 24hrs and it was priced aggressively. Not a single real offer from the samba guys. Have you been getting much response ?
Which one weighs more?
I built a 09 awd express for baja beaches and I did everything I could to keep it as light as possible. With aired down BFGs the thing absolutely floats on the sand. More power and beefier 4wd is not always the best route to the end goal.
When I was looking , it was hard to find an AWD cargo, way more passenger vans available.
Does anyone have any info on how many of each were built and sold in the US?
I love not having windows in the back, I dont even have rear windows. At first I planned to change out the rear doors for ones...
I went from a tire that people raved about as a hypermiling tire to BFG KO2s and I definitely felt a drop in economy.
So worth it though , these KO2 are bullet proof. Beat the crap out of them all over baja this winter and they never complained.
Its a 2009 chevy express AWD gas with a 5.3
I have driven it through so much sand in the last few weeks that the brakes will not stop squeaking. As soon and the old sand finally works its way out of the pads, new sand gets in.
I am in Mulege now and will head north through some bad road in the...
I am spending the winter in Baja and am very happy that I installed an RCA dorm fridge this year.
I have a medium sized solar unit at 340 watts and two golf cart batteries with an MPPT charger.
I run the fridge off a 600watt pure sine wave inverter.
I like to be able to stock up for two weeks on...
Driving today with the windows down I heard a funny buzzing sound about every quarter mile or so. Lasted about a second each time.
Cant tell if its some servo in the door or maybe the fuel pump?
Any ideas?
I am in baja right now in a 2009 awd express and happy as a clam.
With 20 psi in my KO2s and my 2 inch lift I going places you would not think a fairly stock cargo van could go.
Before I added the beefy tires and solar and kayak and solar water heater and lift and and and.... I was getting a...
I am heading to Baja next week after the quartzite hippy gathering in an AWD Express 2009.
Would love to install a kill switch , maybe one to the starter solenoid or fuel pump?
Any ideas or better yet a DIY primer?
Thanks!
edit: I should not call it a hippy gathering , I dont know those people...
LSD will get you up a hill but around a corner it can put you in the ditch.
Off road they are awesome.
If you ever install one , make sure to play in a big mall parking lot for an hour or so after the first bit snow of the year.
You need to know how they break traction.
There is a learning curve for driving 2wd in the snow especially with an LSD, you can really lose the *** end.
Chains are pretty damned impressive though, turns your van into a tank.
Are your BFGs the new KO2s?
Those are supposed to be great in the snow compared to the older ones.
Peerless auto trac are cheap and easy. I think they have them at walmart
So they cant get their hands on a newer van to make a template?
Is that for real?
If I lived nearby I would gladly lend them my van.
I still cannot get over the fact that no one makes an aftermarket carpet kit for our vans that have been in production for a decade and a half.
Thanks for the tips guys. I did not know about those attachments.
I spent a good amount of time in my youth getting my old 2wd chevy truck out of the mud with a farm jack, if you dont know what you are doing , its like wrestling a mule.
