I love that the kids get the truck and you & the wife get the trailer....can't wait to see pics of each to better understand your setup.
Great writeup so far and looking forward to more!
Well Eagle good news for you...
I just put a deposit on a 82 Chevy Suburban with the 6.2L diesel & aftermarket turbo to use as a donor rig for my diesel conversion.
Not sure if the inside wiring will be the same but you will be welcome to any parts I don't need.
Now I just need to find a car...
As an ICU RN who sees plenty of people go super safe when they get something as serious as pancreatic cancer I say ..... good on ya for getting out there with the family and having an adventure.
Sure there are risk and sure if it all goes pear shaped folks will say they told you so, but better...
Hey Eagle I am in central phx just north of the airport...
the 67-72chevytrucks.com forum has some great sections for your year rig also along with full color wiring diagrams that would help put that mess back together.
the nice thing about your year is there are even more of them in junkyards &...
My wife just laughed at me when I called and said I was broken down and staying in Yuma to fix it. No worries about finding a shop or dealer.
After I got home 24hrs later than planned I was talking with my son. We talked about mechanical simplicity, having basic knowledge and knowing your...
The next morning I hit the O'riely's and once again was happy to own a Chevy 350 as they are pretty much the most common motor out there.
I ditched the original burnt up 61amp alt for a replacement which they actually had in stock.
Put in another external voltage reg....I had read about the...

I really recommend you do the chalk test empty as in around town mode and then again full up like you go camping.
If you have never done it the method is simple...
Just go to a parking lot where you have space to drive 100ft or so.
Then take some of that wide kids sidewalk chalk and draw some...
I love the old iron and looking forward to seeing actual trip reports with this rig..
Don't get me wrong the builds are fun to watch, but what good is a build without actual travel at the end. Scott's Disco is nice and sure we have seen some pics from Utah but where are the trips with it? Where...

Tim, it would be great to go out with your family..
More than likely we will do this trip again in April or May otherwise it would be Aug/Sept to escape the fall heat.
The only downside to Aug/Sept is the monsoon season could make things scary if there is rain.

That wood grain is amazing..
And Paul I really like how you are thinking head with the wood sealing concept..rather than having hope to seal the top and then hope no water gets in, better to epoxy during construction.
Great works and thanks taking us along
Sparky it wasn't a link ( no httpblah blah blah) just go to google and type equipped to survive forum and you will find it.
Those guys have been talking this stuff long than Expo has been around. And many of them work in Search & Rescue and the rest practice what they preach.
