    Dash Cam/Truck mounted cameras

I've got a similar setup - it's still a work in progress but the basics are up and running. I have five cameras so far, one dedicated low-mounted rear view camera displaying on a screen where the rear view mirror was (it records onto an SD card) 4 more high-mounted dome type security cameras...

Jeep Gladiator Build Thread - 18 months around Australia with The Road Chose Me

Not Dan, but it's an artifact in the video. The lights are apparently being driven with pulses (perhaps PWM) at a rate too high to see with the naked eye, but the video frame rate is close enough to it to cause strobing.

    Sunlight readable

The Samsung Galaxy Note devices are pretty good in sunlight and have a good size screen. The older units can be picked up cheaply. I use a Note 3 in a glider to run nav software and it's fine even in direct sunlight.

Is there a relay that will allow me to do this? Powering weboost from truck battery while driving and house battery while parked.

You could use two diodes, one from the ignition circuit to the device, the other from the house battery via a switch. Then it will come on if either the ignition is on or the switch is on. This part is a dual-diode package that will do the job, though it's extreme overkill in terms of current...

Do 17" wheel rims fit over NPS brake drums???

Yes, it would seem they are available: https://aav4x4.com.au/37-wheels-for-isuzu-nps-4x4-up-to-2008/

Isuzu NPS intercooler pipe problem and resolution.

I'm sure any hairspray would work, it's just a kind of glue. As for rescue tape, I doubt it. I haven't been able to find out what the max boost pressure of the 4HK1 engine is but if it's 15 psi above ambient, with a cross sectional area of the tube of maybe 12 sq inches, you have something like...

$450 - includes new hi-spec clamps and the silicone joiner.

Isuzu NPS intercooler pipe problem and resolution.

The problem; Isuzu uses a plastic pipe on the output of the NPS's 4HK1 engine's intercooler, presumably because neither a flexible rubber pipe nor a pressed steel pipe as used in the intercooler inlet is conducive to mounting the manifold pressure sensor which is on the low pressure side of the...

Diesel heater in a four wheel camper?

I've never used a diesel cooktop but I have heard from others who've had them that they have some drawbacks. I have an induction cooktop and it is just terrific. Heating and hot water is from a Webasto hydronic diesel heater. Another drawback to a combo heater/stove would be that it represents...

unimog steering wheel vibration after tire change

I know nothing about military tyres, but I can tell you that brand-new out-of-round tyres are a real, albeit rare, thing. It happened to me once, got 4 new tyres, all properly balanced, but experienced terrible steering wheel wobble when driving. They were replaced by the supplier. I've also had...

    Aftermarket Isuzu Dash Switches?

Taiwan quality is just as good as Japan. I'm old enough to remember when "Made in Japan" meant it was cheap crap, then it was Taiwan, then China - where will the cheap labour be found next? But I was stunned to discover the other day that the Isuzu electric heated wing mirrors are made in...

    Aftermarket Isuzu Dash Switches?

Ok, so you have inspired/challenged/shamed me into doing better. I've modified the switches so that the diode and resistor in the harness are not required, changed the backlight LED colour to match the stock switches, and dimmed the activation LED (left it blue because I like the...

    Aftermarket Isuzu Dash Switches?

It looks worse in the image than it does in reality. One problem is that because the NPS has no dash light dimmer, the LEDs are too bright even at 12V (they're basically running at full brightness, which in a more sophisticated vehicle you would never do) so I think I will change the zener...

    Truck Weight and Tire Limit

Better tell Gladiator Tires that - they specify a load rating of 4300lb for their 37X13.50R17LT. There are several other 17" tyres with published load ratings over 3195lb.

    Aftermarket Isuzu Dash Switches?

So the switches are the Stedi "tall Toyota" range - https://www.stedi.com.au/rocker-switches/toyota-switches/tall-toyota.html These are push-push switches, not rocker. They are about the right height, slightly narrower than the Isuzu switches. As standard they do not clip into the hole, and...

    Aftermarket Isuzu Dash Switches?

Well, 5 years later there are still no aftermarket dash switches for the NPS - but with a little ingenuity, I got very close to an OEM look, complete with illumination, and with an extensive choice of labels. And they're relatively cheap. More details to follow.

Jeep Gladiator Build Thread - 18 months around Australia with The Road Chose Me

Australia is not locked down (various states have had varying degrees of lockdown but that's all gone at least for the vaccinated) but there have been and still are some state border closures (or effectively closures due to quarantine requirements.) The border closures are being unwound as...
