The fire was more of a smoldering red hot foam insulation episode, with silver backing. Only thing damaged I can see was the foam.. which is gone now..
I just had a good mechanic tell me to enjoy my vacation because it takes more than a leaking head gasket it kill a cummins.
Second mechanic...
This the male half in Colorado.. I'm not good typing on my iPhone so short and sweet The white smoke is coming from the exhause pipe and does not smell like fuel. It's not to bad at idle or cruising but belches allot on take off.
Coolant to the turbo? Don't think so
I'm on vacation pulling...
**Thanks Kaisen...I saw your post after talking to him. I will pass it on.**
Thanks for your responses...He just got ahold of me and we discussed all your ideas.
First off, the van is manual transmission, he HAS checked ALL the fluids and they are fine.
radiator and oil look good.
Being as there...
Hello...I am the wife of a guy that needs help badly.
He is currently in Colorado, between Gunnison and Almont.
He is in a E-350 van with a Cummins 5.9- 12 valve diesel engine...1st generation.
The van is blowing white smoke constantly when he's driving. It is not looking like antifreeze is...
Your decision may have been the best considering what a aux tank would cost.
I might be interested in that kit. I need to get some measurements.
As far as my welder.. Your right. If they don't feel comfortable I need to keep looking.
Do the precautions for gas apply for diesel? Same...
Super.. Maybe you can check the gauge thickness and take a few pics?
Cutting the tank straight would be half the challenge and I'm wondering if my band saw would cut it the straightest. I don't know if Chris's kit will work for me since I have a NV4500, but knowing how many inch's you cut off...
I have a NV4500 4x4 transmission I will be swapping with my 2wd NV4500. From what I'm gathering, the only issues I would be facing is shortening the gas tank and the drive shaft. Everything else is direct bolt up..
My local weld shop seemed like they would be willing to tig weld my removed...
Ive been thinking about insulation for my aluminum 3/4" wall toyhauler.. I imagine the spray foam is one of the best, but finding a leak would be a ***** because anything mobile with caulked seams eventually leaks.. I'm leaning toward adding another 3/4" aluminum stud for a total of 1.5" and...
The engine has plenty of room. Its the accessories..
Its not quiet.. Removing and installing new better insulation would be a real ***** with the engine in the way.
I snapped a few pics of the engine and a vid while I was changing out the fuel filter. After changing all fluids/filters, and rebuilding the D60. The van will remain this way until I find a 96-98 cummins donor truck and then the slow process will begin.
My 2008 Diehard Platinum P2 is showing its age, 12.2v and I plan on buying two new ones next time sears has it's friends and family sale. What I'm wondering, is why does the odyssey PC1750 require so many amps for a deep cycle charge? I was thinking about using the second Diehard Platinum on...
I just had the rear end rebuilt $300 .. Mechanic said the chunk of metal was from the carrier bearing and good thing we caught it before more damage... Its all good now, and the D60FF should give me maybe another 100k before needing anything.. If I keep my foot out of it..
That said. I'm...
thanks Chris.
Don't have a answer to your question citizen. Iv got a bunch of them still. My D60FF will be available if and when I find a suitable dodge donor.
I guess they didn't..
Next question.. What year did ford switch to 170mm stud circle on the front D60's ? I'm trying to decide if I want a sterling rear, and I'm guessing people prefer it to the stock D60 rear so all the wheel stud spacing match after they install a metric front D60?
Iv posted this question in another forum without any response so I will try here..
Since the Dana 70U uses the D60 bearings with the only difference being the larger ID on the pinion head bearing bore. And the 70B, you only get the larger pinion head bearing.. But when you compare a D70HD, you...
