Since you said " I want to be-able to go to some of the out of the way places along the way" I assume your not the type of person who see's a steep hill or bog and says.. " lets see if we can make it" Your more of the type who just wants to make it up a rough colorado dirt road and get away...
After the cover rtv cures, I will put in some napa 80/90 and run it until I either find another axle to rebuild, or rebuild this one.
That's no magnet. Its a sharp piece of shim or bearing.
Since Iv decided not to look for the wider 72" WMS replacement axle and remain with the 66.5", I need to decide if upgrading to a SRW D70 on my 95 E350 is worth it for towing a 8k TT. 15k lbs combined.
Did ford offer a SRW D70 in a E350 with 35 spline axles, bigger bearings? And what...
Im on it. But a D70HD , which came out of a 99+ SRW cutaway with rear tank wont be a easy find. "On it" means my local recycler said he'd look for one for me.
Yea, what was I thinking? I realized the job isn't for me when I read..
This will blow all my plans for Colorado until I...
Yea double ouch because I just got out of surgery yesterday after wrestling with my stihl. Im off the oxy so I can actually do something today.
Iv got two routes I could take.. A) Search/Find the 35 spline Dana 70 HD I really want. B) replace all bearings and seals in my D60.
As far as...
No. I didn't notice anything out of the norm until I found the chunk on the drain plug.
Im guessing I simply remove the axles and unbolt the bearing caps and the entire diff comes out?
I didn't need to see this, but Iv got something going down with my Dana 60. The transmission shop down the road said the chunk looked like part of the bearing..
I planned on switching to a D70HD if/when I found one. And wanted to run my D60FF until then but the big chunk of bearing has me...
Thanks again..
I found this page interesting..
Is says.. "Any cast or manufactured part has some built in internal stresses and brake rotors and pads are no exception. This is why rotors can warp just by sitting on the shelf."
So that explains why 1stDeuce's NEW rotors were .010" out...
Thanks.
I have no idea how bad the PO abused this van. He towed 10k.. lent it out..
I don't like the front end and will see how it runs after replacing the center steering drag link/pitman BJ, and rotors. I bet it will make a huge difference.
doesn't anyone make cyro rotors without holes...
I haven't even towed with this new van.. But I felt pulsing under hard fast braking on the way home and the PO said he wanted to replace them so Im not taking any chances..
I want a step above "over the counter rotors".
The Raybestos "quiet on arrival" police rotors are interesting.. Not...
I need to order rotors for my 95 E350 SRW rear abs van with a D60 drum rear.
I will be towing up to 10k and I will use my manual 5 speed as much as I can going down mountain passes. But I want to upgrade to premium front rotors and pads. I don't think I need drilled and slotted, but I do want...
Iv been researching connectors because I'm not satisfied with my plastic hopkins connector. I'm sure the standard 7 blade design works fine, while having it's limitations as any. But I'm not a fan of how big and disposable all of the ones I found were. And the wire clamp seal was weak compared...
Yes I agree.
Problem I have is I'm a city dweller and already have four cars and three motorcycles on this property.. I'm not sure how the city would feel about me parting out a truck from this property.
Im still kicking myself for letting a $2k running cummins 4x4 go because I didn't have...
Since my last post on this thread, Iv bought a 1995 E350 with NV4500 and 6bt.
If I found a Quigley donor with D60, which years would pretty much bolt right up to my 1995? I sure like the smooth ride of the stock coils with the cummins on them and I'm reluctant to consider leafs.
Still don't...
Thanks.. My D60FF is in a 1995 E350 cargo with nv4500 and 1st gen stock 6bt in front.
I'm not sure how many mods I will do. Iv considered 4x4 , adding water/meth injection, nitrous , etc. And I do want to be able to hammer on it and have good hill climbing abilities. I don't want to be...
No, I'v never broken anything because I haven't done any serious off roading yet. Im in Iowa
I plan on doing some hill climbing to get to remote locations though. And cant find any info on the limitations of the 30 spline axles. But I figured if Im buying a new ARB locker or limited slip...
Sorry for such a newbie question.. But could anyone please explain, or direct me to the explanation of what it takes to convert a Dana 60 rear to 35 spline? I'm considering it since I need a new limited slip or locker.
Also.. what are the limitations of a 30 spline D60? I plan or running...
