I was actually a little surprised to see those tires. While ours have been fantastic, they became hard/impossible to get last year and a couple of the GXV folks went the other way. One person got what I think Goodyear themselves described as a "bad batch" and had an explosive blowout at...
You didn’t answer the question. All you would have had to say is “yes, I’ve read it”. But you didn’t.
pray tell, what was the mortality spectrum observed in the “meta-analysis” - assuming you read it.
And by the same notion, you don't get to disregard previous studies that don't agree with yours.
So, one says it matters and the other doesn't. Or does it?
What are the key takeaways from your study? I'm curious if you even read it.
Damn, that must have stung. You didn't prove me wrong, you proved to me you either wouldn't (or couldn't) fess up to the original assertion. Which was - and still is - there are so many factors that contribute to fish mortality to a greater extent than barbless hooks. Which for the record...
If you say so. But Shill and Scarpella answered this years ago.
" For flies and lures combined, mean hooking mortality was 4.5% for barbed hooks and 4.2% for barbless hooks. Combination of test statistics from individual studies by gear type via meta-analysis yielded nonsignificant results...
This is an untrue assertion. The mortality difference - between a barbed vs un-barbed single hook is so miniscule that it is undetectable in the +/- noise of mortality studies.
No, I am arguing that any stream that has a bait/treble hook restriction and requires single hooks has already done...
I genuinely encourage you to follow that sense of wonder and look it up. The information exists out there, you just have read it yourself and not take mine or others interpretation of it as gospel.
That's the thing. You gotta follow the rules no matter what, which of course I do. But if everyone simply nods their head and goes on - or worse yet buys into what essentially is the outdoor version of virtue signalling - the rules never actually come around an ultimately go back to following...
Unfortunately, the outdoors is not immune to the "if it sounds good we should make it a restriction" mentality.
Quite simply, there are a great many factors that play into catch and release fish mortality to a much higher degree than whether or not my #18 hook has a barb or not.
It's so far...
You might also consider a little kicker or forward facing end cap that would serve as a diverter on the leading edge of the awning to keep sweeping branches and overhanging stuff from ripping it off the roof. Looks cool
Well, as I think I said in one of the other threads - I may not be good or fast, but I'll get there.
We get a flat on our rig, the first thing I'm gonna do is make a sandwich.
My experience tells me regardless of whether you’re buying or building - if you can’t wrench on your own rig - especially if remote/international - you’re in for a world of hurt. .
I think he is saying having it extend a little further than the others to allow getting it on first and taking the weight so you can then line up the others easily. A nice trick indeed! Thanks for sharing.
That's exactly what I mean when I say I like the precise adjustments of the small chain hoist solution. Anything that involves rope and/or pulley (like the climbing systems mentioned) require you to either find a way to hold the weight by hand (Person 2) or uses a stopper of sorts (cam or...
