Project FJ: Building the Ultimate Off-Road Vehicle for Outdoor Photographers

It was great meeting you in Moab last month, hopefully seeing Ace's and my FJ helped you out with some ideas. Your FJ is looking good. Will have to get together with you sometime and do some wheelin in Moab or the San Juans. Doug

How do you lift a Tor-Flex Axle?

Could you possibly mean a Tor-Flex Axle?

    Peg Hammer Options?

I'am well aware of the purpose of a soft material on a hammer head. I went back and looked at the SP site and they do have replacement copper heads although there was no price or part# listed, I'am sure it's pricey. I had to laugh at the picture of the mushroomed head they were replacing, it was...

    Peg Hammer Options?

I picked up a SP with the steel head @ Sportsman Warehouse a couple months ago for $20, don't know if it was being blown out or mis-priced but I knew it was a good price. Like others have said it works well with their pegs and the hook comes in handy for pulling out the pegs. The copper head...

    Propane Camp Fire?

If summer 2013 is like 2012 you may want to bring that Little Red Campfire with ya, the first half of summer this year we were under a fire ban in Colorado until the monsoons kicked in. Our Camp Fire in a Can saw a lot of use this year, for us it was a great investment.

    Best, cheapest RTT?

And when you add "lighter the better" you are asking for alot. The cheapest would be used, preferably close to where you live so it doesn't have to be shipped. The best is a little more subjective, your own needs will have to determine that. Since you didn't specify which size RTT...

2010 Tacoma TRD Off-Road... Thinnest tire I can run on stock wheels?

I don't get the wide tire thing either, I feel that 265's start to look to wide . The extra cost of wide tires, wear and tear on suspension/steering componets and not to mention the added weight was not justafiable for me. I settled on 255's, not to skinny or to wide and will go with...

    TRD FJ Cruiser for SEMA

The wife and I do just fine in our FJ, I guess we don't know any better. The FJ would not be my first choice if I had kids but certainly is possible with a trailer to carry camping gear. I removed my rear seats almost 4 years ago and can carry most everything I need inside the FJ...

    TRD FJ Cruiser for SEMA

Saw this at the FJ Summit in July, had a few different things on it like a supercharger (hence the FJ-S designation), TRD brakes, different shocks, worthless brush guard, IIRC it had leather seats, new style wheels which look good but would prefer some other color than black and KM2's instead of...

    Over-stuffing an RTT?

I found with our Ezi-Awn 1400 I could not keep all our bedding (2 Wiggys rectangular bags, down comforter and 2 pillows) and still have the cover fit over the tent properly. Had to remove either the bags or pillows or else the cover would leave a gap that exposed the mattress enough to let dust...

FJ Cruiser Drawer System & Fridge

Brett, it was great to meet up with you in Moab. Hope that seeing how our fridges were mounted helped you out. Doug.

Tent trailers which is the toughest?

I live fairly close to where the Adrenalin trailer is built and know the owner of the company (also I'am friends with the person who bought the first production trailer) so I can vouch for the toughness/durability of that trailer. The trailer in the video survived just fine, the Ford Raptor...

FJ Cruiser Drawer System & Fridge

No problem, always like to meet forum members. Not sure exactly which day we will be in Moab yet, we are doing the Kokopelli Trail with our local club (Book Cliff Cruisers) and we are having a meeting tomorrow night and will nail down a departure/arrival day. Will PM you when I know more. Doug.

    need some advice

Sorry Long Distance Rider but I do live in Colorado and I do worry about hitting a deer not to mention Elk, Pronghorns and even but not very likely a Moose. Around here it's not if you will hit a deer but when. I would look at a Aluminess front bumper I believe they have one for a full size...

FJ Cruiser Drawer System & Fridge

You may find that the ARB 50 fridge may not fit if the rear seats are in place IIRC. I have that size ARB fridge with an AT 2 drawer next to it but I have removed my rear seats also. My friend has a older Engel mounted on a single drawer in his FJ, the down side to that setup is that the fridge...

    Ruger Trailers Denver

I actually have my fridge in the vehicle as well. I use it all the time since my FJ is also my DD, it comes in quite handy for grocery shopping, carrying lunch for work and when on the trail having cool drinks is nice. I agree a lot of trailers are getting pretty complex, which is OK for some...

Has anybody used a Kelty Car Port Deluxe?

Bought a used one Meant to post up sooner (been under the weather this week) that I purchased a used car port from a forum member (thanks hoser). My wife and I set it up last Sunday which took us about 20 minutes for the first time, I think we can get it down to 10 minutes with a little more...

    Ruger Trailers Denver

If you are going to have a fridge in the trailer you will want to be able to access it without having to lift up the lid, especially if you have a RTT on it. My new style 50qt. ARB fridge mounted on a slide and with the transit bag is 21 1/2" tall. The Horizon I use to have used nylon spacers...
