If you see a So-Cal tear drop heading east on I-15/I-70/Hwy.50 today that is mine being delivered, taking it out camping up on Grand Mesa this weekend for its shake down cruise, just alittle excited! :wings:
Agreed. If I had kids/other passengers I would go with the Taco for sure. I ended up with a FJ for many reasons, one being the fact That I have owned/ driven pu trucks for the last 35 years and wanted to try something different. Another was that I only needed two seats and I was more comfortable...
I think you may be on to something here Jon. When me and Susie did the Alpine Loop a couple weeks ago there was one almost at the top of Engineer pass, it was on the Lake City side which would be easier than the Ouray side to get up but still a bit of a challenge to get there. I would think...
KM2's
Running same tire as pau-hana on similar vehicle (I have a FJ) and having the same results as he is. So far the only situation they have not worked so well was in snow, every where else I have been very happy with them. I have 2 friends with same truck/tires and they are happy with them also.
Colors
White is the best for reflecting heat, I've heard that grey is another color that reflects well. I would think a Sand color would be a decent choice also. Red and Black are the worst for reflecting heat, they are great at absorbing heat. I have a all white FJ Cruiser and it stays fairly...
Water tank
Gary, that is going to be a nice tank, I like the size of it and having the baffles will be a great feature. Any plans on marketing your design? The problem with all the universal pre-made tanks is that they rarely ever fit the way you want or do not use the space efficiently.
Hard points
I have to agree with targa88, there are 8 10mm(IIRC, at least 8mm) that you could use. I plan on doing the same thing as you with water storage, I think its the best place for the water tank, low and in the middle of the truck.
A couple question I have for you is which tank are you...
If you are going to be in the mountains you will want trailer brakes on anything over 1000 lbs. IMO. They are nice to have in some offroad situations also. The FJ has good brakes and using the transmission will help greatly in towing a heavier trailer. I travel with a fellow FJ'er who tows a 16'...
Garage Sale
Still have Dodge PW items available, make me an offer. Also have a front PW oem bumper that I will let go real cheap, shipping would be a little on the expensive side so local pu would be best on it. Toyota wheels are still available also.
Ladder attachment
I had a Globetrotter that I had bought used and the previous owner had made his own holes in the tent, it had 3 positions 1 at each end and 1 in the middle. I never used the middle position. Ezi-Awn could have done a better job on the ladder attachment IMO.
Thanks Ramjet, I was wondering if the trasharoo would rub on the wheel since the spokes are fairly outboard on the TRD wheel, but like you said if you use your stuff its going to get scratched/dented sooner or later. Even though the PETT toilet is plastic I have a canvas bag I carry it in and...
