they have a safety ledge which helps with tire retention, but they're not a catch all. based on the weight of these vehicles, with 37's i would be hesitant to drop below 18PSI for aggressive conditions. E rated sidewalls are a pain in the *** to reseat.
Im sure others have gone lower with good...
the 4th gen axles have more ribs on the housing, and a large cast piece on the passenger side tube that holds the disconnect system that actually makes the axle housing stronger than the 3RD variants. Also steering links and ball joints are different part numbers with larger sizing for increased...
Im still a relatively new owner of my PW, I purchased it used (2017 with 14k on the clock) and I'm nearing 6k miles that I've personally put on it. The only real quality issue i have with it so far, is the design of the emergency brake hanger on the driver side, which the cables running through...
If i may suggest, the urethane bushings i those control arms are going to ultimately degrade very quickly due to heavy rotational stress from the front axle. Urethane bushings are quite a bit harder than OEM rubber's, and a lot less forgiving when pushed beyond their design specifications...
For the super duty's - the 10 speed HD transmissions are supposed to be introduced on the 2020 model re-fresh along with the third generation 6.7L, and the new big-block gasser.
the non-US/Canada spec super duties optioned with diesels still use the 6.7L, but with the emissions equipment...
well boys, i went and saw one today - im seriously impressed. Its slightly bigger than the Tacoma, which is a huge improvement. It looks like you will actually be able to fit an adult in the back seat.
I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised on the sizing. It's going to be a great platform.
It will be down the road. Thankfully the TR beadlocks are super light at 36lbs. So we’re looking at a combined tire/wheel weight of 117lbs - which is about the weight of a Toyo OCMT from the get go
ive got updates!

Another real world shot of the new HIR1 bulbs in the headlights. this is accurate to what i experienced with the exception of the hot spot is a bit over exposed. it was hard to get the rest correctly exposed without that being an issue...
no leaks on mine, although my running lights curiously had water in them when i first picked the truck up - i haven't been able to figure out how that happened and it hasn't happened since.
Side note: i loved my Toyota, and i think toyotas are kickass - its just that they're old and Toyota...
My whole thing was my 4runner was not cutting it. It was low on power, it was loud, got awful fuel milage and lacked technologically in some major areas.
I see a lot of people building up Tacoma’s and every time I see one all I can say to myself is that it has a C channel frame, and drum...
shells are really prone to cracking in high stress environments, and they're not particularly useful for storing things for easy access like maxtrax, fuel canisters and other accessories. As well, this Leitner rack allows the top rails to be slid all the way forward so that you can still put in...
No, and I don’t really mind that it doesn’t. The second alternator is mounted off to the side with its own dedicated belt which I don’t like at all. I’ll just grab the new 275amp alternator from the Hurricane JL wranglers and bolt it in place and be a happy camper
I personally like it haha...
so i've done some things
First off i replaced the OEM backup bulbs with Philips LED's. I like the light color they omit, but im not super keen with their output or the CANBUS error im getting. Im probably going to replace these.

Another issue is that they also went to a larger U-joint size and axle shaft diameter, so there isn't a junk yard drop in - but you can get full length replacement parts from aftermarket manufacturers
the 2014+ Ram's now use a disconnect on the passenger side axle shaft. Previous to that people have said that free-spin hub conversions to the rams only netted .5mpg. A tough sell for return, but could mean the world on reduced wear and tear in the event of catastrophic failure
