Nice idea, that I've thought about. I have some left over Fiberglass Reinforced Panels about 0.100" thick that would make nice composite panels with some XPS insulation. Problem is finding the right glue as construction glues don't work well and many epoxy or resins have MEK, which melts the...
You know, I've built a few homes in my day, and I just remembered that I always used Douglas Fir plywood for the floors and walls. The reason is that I've never had any of this stuff deteriorate, no mater how much rain or snow fell on it during construction. I've had plenty of pine and OSB...
Pretty cool idea. Ikea has some under bed slats like this. The Europeans seem to like the slat style on Range Rovers. It's not a roll up, but pictured below is a slat bed. I'm thinking an RV 4" memory foam mattress is what I want. They come in 48" x 75" size, which is difficult to find...
Thanks!!! So I guess I might not need the added support on the edge where you climb in. Do you remember what kind of plywood? AC plywood is smooth, cheaper, and easy to find. A lot of people recommend Baltic Birch or Marine Plywood. The Baltic Birch is strong, light weight, and smooth, but...
While I'm waiting for more parts to come in, I'm thinking about another challenge, the bed platform. Any experience you guys have is appreciated. The two options I'm thinking about are as follows:
First option is (3) 48"x 25" x 3/4" AC plywood. I can take these planks down and get them out...
Thanks for starting this forum. I'm about ready to build my pop top camper bed platform. The two options I'm thinking about are:
(3) 48"x 25"' 3/4" AC plywood. I can take them down and get them out of the way, so I can walk around. Will these be strong enough to span a 4' gap with out...
Thanks, don't know if I qualify as Swiss made, but I'll take it. I'll include a link to my products page in the next posting:).
I'm almost seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with this build. Spent all morning researching struts. They're on order.
Still need to clean off some smudges, but I think it turned out pretty nice. I have a thin scratch in the paint, but it looks like the bottom fiberglass edge conceals it. I used flat black which looks like gloss from the outside of the vehicle and flat from the inside. What do you think?
Time to black out the window border. Mark the border, cut the film off, and spray paint light coats on the border. Sounds easy enough, hope it works. Waiting for first coat to dry.
Second coat
My main hang up now is the color match. If my truck was black, white, or red I think Monstaliner would be great. Since I have a Metallic color I’m not sure if one of their 68 colors will pass my pickiness factor. I’ll see what the samples look like. Even if I don’t use it on the exterior, I...
Alright, there's a lot of support in the Overlanding community for tough coatings like Monstaliner. I haven't bought in yet but the Monstaliner samples are on order. Idasho's rig, shows you can make the stuff look beautiful. It's hard to believe you can roll on this good looking of a paint...
Alright Idasho's thread has me thinking about graphics. I love the mountain graphics and the tread graphics. Any pictures of Overlanding graphics would be appreciated. Also love Idasho's Built not Bought decal (might have to steal that one!).
