I did Potash Road and the White Rim Trail February 17-20 of this year, perfectly book-ending the trip with serious snowstorms in the mountains the morning before and afternoon after... but with perfect weather on White Rim itself. I was solo in my stock 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road and saw more...
I can’t speak to the F150, and I took a different line at that spot, but there were several places where I had to make use of rocks that others had already stacked... and one place where I added to the stack. And there were many, many places where I “found” my approach angle, my departure...
(A minute or two into the video). Wait, I think I saw you!!! Were you there Feb 18-20? Is that a LC80 with the trailer?
(After watching the whole video). Yeah, that was definitely you all. Saw you at the top of Murphy's Hogback on Friday morning and then saw the guy in the F150 with his son...
I did it for the first time a couple weeks ago (Feb 18-20). It was amazing. Now that I know what to expect, would love to go back, take a little more time, do some side hikes, maybe go in a group (versus my solo trip) once we’re all vaccinated. Incredible experience!
Depends on when you're going and what you're looking for! My experience is in or just barely outside of Grand Teton National Park. If you're with someone who needs some conveniences, stay up at the Colter Bay Campground inside the park. There will be bathrooms, bear bins, and in the little...
One can only stay in a small house with a wife, two daughters, a dog, a cat, and two bunny rabbits for so long... so over the summer I did a lot of research, purchasing, and preparation to take off around Labor Day weekend and work from the wilderness from then until the election...
Yes, I had a bed of 6 inches of memory foam, a winter sleeping bag, and a heavy-weight down comforter in the back of the 4Runner. Office was the gazebo, though everything came out of the gazebo at night except for the table & chair.
No rain on this trip. Wind was a real problem the first...
I'm just back from my inaugural trip of about 2 weeks working my regular job from out in the wilderness. I'm a software product manager and my job involves being on a computer and/or calls all day, so the two things I had to solve were power and internet. For power, I went with a Jackery 500...
Yes, photography is my main reason for travel. Don’t know if I qualify as an overlander... I’ll do trips of a week to a month+ based out of my 4Runner. I’m gearing up to head to Montana/Wyoming for fall color / fall rut right now.

Planning to hit the road but still needing to work (software systems)... the two big things I have to solve are power and cell service.
My Jackery 500 and 100W solar panels just arrived and I’m sitting at my desk but running the laptop and monitor off the Jackery, with the solar panel outside...
We don't need to clog up this thread with disagreements over aesthetics (though for astronomers it's not just aesthetic), but I disagree... both as a photographer and as a human... how peaceful will you feel sitting someplace way out in the middle of nowhere, laying on your back in a field...
And I should add that it sounds like they've been fairly responsive already in figuring out how to minimize the glare already, so that's good, but... how much can they minimize and when do we get rid of the earlier, brighter models?
