Australian and British bloggers arrested in Iran

Uh... they're Australian, not U.S. citizens. She apparently is a dual British/Australian citizen.

I’ve been watching them for some time and couldn’t disagree more with your characterization.

Australian and British bloggers arrested in Iran

Or maybe, just maybe, they didn't actually fly the drone. Or maybe, just maybe, they did and actually had a permit. I've been following them for some time now. There's some evidence in their videos of them researching and following the rules. Can't say for this particular issue. My point...

Australian and British bloggers arrested in Iran

Would it? I'm American and therefore I assume that it would be stupid of me to travel in Iran. They are Australian. (Turns out she's dual British & Australian, but don't know if any of us knew that until now.) I don't know if it's necessarily as bad of an idea for Australians.

Australian and British bloggers arrested in Iran

I've been involved in a lot of things that made the news over the years and my experience is that the news pretty much always gets things wrong initially. Add the complication here that the only news coming out is what Iran wants to come out, and how in the world do you think that you know that...

Australian and British bloggers arrested in Iran

These are two very good, nice people who need help and prayers. How about we cut out calling them stupid and saying bad things when none of us has any clue what really went on? They need help. If you’re Australian or British, contact your local politicians. Everyone else can send POLITE...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

I was there for the last two weeks of September and the first week of October. If I did it again, I'd probably want to do four weeks--the second half of September and the first half of October--just to make sure that I've got the annual variability covered. If you're way too early, head north...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

Yeah, oddly enough I got home and had no photos of my setup. Not really sure why! Next trip I'll take some. But just conceptually the passenger side of the back was my bed--that I just left set up the whole time--and the driver side was my gear. To sleep in the back of a 5th Gen 4Runner you...

2 days from snow to desert and everything else thrown at us

Quite the adventure! Glad you were able to get away from the creepy guy.

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

I’ve been in July, August, September, and October, but don’t think that I’ve been in June. One of these years I’m going to make it there in May for bears. Generally, earlier in the season is more buggy. Best advice is just to get your reservations early. Grand Teton has everything that...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

Yes, @Wilbah , safety & recovery gear is the first thing that I'm working on... slowly... I already had a good first aid kit and field water filtration system from years of travel. I used to have a Spot GPS, but they have gotten so awful that I replaced it with a Garmin InReach. (Ever since a...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

With the exception of Skalkaho Pass, my unpaved roads were all out-and-backs related to photography. It’d be fun to do a trip with longer, point-to-point off-road parts. Am thinking about that for next year’s adventure.

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

I was in the Tetons for the first 10 day’s or so and didn’t turn tracking on ... not really sure why. Once I left the Tetons and headed north, I turned tracking on and left it on for the rest of the trip. I don’t know that it’d really help anyone, though... it probably looks like a crazy...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

Oh, also, @Etoimos , be sure to take Skalkaho Pass if you're anywhere near the Bitteroots. It's nothing challenging from an offroad perspective, but at least it's unpaved... and it's absolutely gorgeous...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

Yeah, my 5th grader was NOT happy with me that she didn't get to go with! She loves Wyoming. And adventures. But (a) fall rut happens during the school year, and (b) I couldn't have done this trip with family in tow. There's a lot of standing around for hours or driving around somewhat...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

@DetroitDarin , @ITTOG , it IS absolutely gorgeous up there! And not to take anything away from Idaho and Montana, but most of the "vista" photos above are from Grand Teton National Park -- which is in the valley known as Jackson Hole. It's crazy beautiful, but in the words of one couple from...

    3-week Wyoming/Montana Experiment

Thanks, @Blackdawg and @DetroitDarin ! @Blackdawg , I was in Wyoming the latter half of August in 2017. It was very nice, but didn't have any fall rut going where I was, nor was there fall color. The rut was pretty late this year (mostly it hadn't really gotten going yet in the Jackson Hole...
