    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Snipped A whole two hours? Goodness me. But "Sound deadening, ride quality, and vibration/harshness is a thing and its an important thing" does not require electronic anything. Snipped and my bold that you pay for. Why? Why can't it be super cool, modern, light, efficient in performance...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

How much of any vehicle performance is used is never the point on a private vehicle. How it makes you feel is. Wether green oval, prancing horse, Spirit of Ecstasy or the cheapest wheels you can get your hands on, if it makes you happy then it's worth the cash. Snipperd How many army trucks...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

I think with the range of available springing for a 90/110 you could quite easily end up with something not very nice outside of your comfort range. I was told ages ago that when the UK army started going from leaf sprung Series vehicles to coils they started having chassis problems. The ride...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

I very much like the 110. One of the reviews says the wheelbase is more like 119"? So a 130 using the same wheelbase isn't so far off. They were 127"s to begin with. But. (rant) Considering how clever technology is nowadays, why can't things be built simple, pure and light? As someone says...

    Unimog vs. ....

Mine were disconnected too. To get from fourth to fifth in an older square cab Mog there's an air ram on the gear box for that shift only, you have to wait for it to do it's thing. On the flat we usually pulled off in fourth, uphill on road third. I would think on a Mog owned by someone else...

    Unimog vs. ....

I don't think looking at just two of anything produced in reasonable quantities is representative? There are an awful lot of Mogs used by a lot of different people doing many things. 60,000 miles is a lot if it's been abused and unserviced for all that? A 7500kg Mog weighs about 5500kg bare...

Have you looked into rear facing car seats for your under fours?

A mirror on the rear seat head rest (designed for that purpose) was for us within what a vehicles normal rear view mirror would see, so eye contact was not an issue. :)

Presentation and looking for a chassis

Hiya I think the UK maximum rear overhang is something like 60% of the wheelbase. A shorter wheelbase for any given chassis will hopefully produce a smaller turning circle. A longer chassis will make it easier to achieve equal front to rear weight distribution depending on what weight you plan...

    Safety concerns of global trips

Most likely your Govt for starters, ignoring that may affect your travel insurance?

    Earthroamer for world wide trip?

A friend who has travelled by truck a lot reckoned any trip is a third driving, a third exploring while parked, and a third waiting (visas, ferries, parts etc). A big truck will give more freedom and time (capacity in water, food, power) in relative comfort for two thirds of a trip therefore...

Composting Toilet — Report on 8 months full time usage

Plus disposable nappies. Perhaps already stated on this thread but the Separett version comes with I think three containers with more optionally available so you can put a lid on a full one and keep hold of it until as much composting as you wish has happened. Perhaps long enough so it is...

Can you temporarily bring into Europe a US-registered pickup with a bull bar?

"The Border" will probably be a fenced off holding area stuff gets dumped after being unloaded from the ship. How release from that works I don't know, but each port will probably have one and I doubt there will be an insurance company office right there but I may be wrong. The internet now...

Can you temporarily bring into Europe a US-registered pickup with a bull bar?

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bull-bars "It is not illegal for vehicles to be fitted with bull bars, but the Department for Transport doesn’t recommend it unless it has been shown that they don’t pose an additional risk of injury to other road users. "

Can you temporarily bring into Europe a US-registered pickup with a bull bar?

Hiya I think that banned might not be the correct description, insurers not willing to cover such metalwork is possibly why they are less common, but not entirely gone even now. Although fitted on brand new vehicles by the dealer might be different to older vehicles. You could always take it off...

    Let’s talk Fuel Filters

There's also Guglatech in Italy who seem to be able to make a "sock" to suit most tanks depending on neck design, and then as long as your tank is deep. Not just for motos. They made two for me but yet to be fitted. Plenty of off the shelf for Motos or general jerrycan fitment.

    Train horn

When we took our camper to Morocco it seemed full sized truck/semis/artics etc had their own rules, you get out of their way. We saw several that had hit each other at speed head on blind bends, and once we were overtaken on an uphill blind bend by a fuel tanker, him in the other lane with no...
