Thanks for the great advice about lift length and stability. This will save me a lot of trial and error frustration, if I go this route. I read that you can take out a spring if needed. I think one on each side with springs, and one on the back without a spring might work to stabilize the...
Nice and simple. Wonder if it's available in the US. Do you think two would work on my small top, or would I have to put four on it? I'm guessing those are springs inside, but they are hard to see.
Here's a link on how to put together a linear actuated bed lift (also top lift) for a camper.

Sorry if you already stated in the thread about the linear actuators, but did you use simple DC actuators or did you use synchronized Hall effect actuators. I'm considering an actuated roof, and was wondering if all your actuators stay straight when going up. Any help would be appreciated.
This Hall effects controller and linear actuator is what's needed to run two linear actuators that are synchronized. These linear actuators are overkill at 400 lbs each. I wonder if I can lift with just (2) of these instead of (4). You can even open the top with remote controls!
Looks like I could use the EZ Lift to lift my RTT. Instead of it lifting the bottom shell, I could just have it lift the RTT. Not sure if 17" lift will be enough, but the electric lift would be cool.
You bring up another good problem to solve. Inside or outside hinge and pneumatics. I would prefer to keep the mechanisms inside to avoid the weather and for aesthetics. This causes a problem though. The hinge and pneumatic use valuable living area and you don't want the tent material to get...
I'm getting closer to a big decision. How to hinge the top?
Wedge is easiest to build, but I'll loose too much room up front.
Straight up will give me a ton of room upstairs, but complicated to open and make strong.
I'm thinking about a 6 bar hinge, so I can open from the back with only...
Perfect size water tank for the front wall of the bed, under my planned seats. Not sure if I'll go built in water and grey tank or simple jerry cans yet.
Incredible build and sorry for asking if you've already posted an answer, but what size pneumatic struts and weight? Also how are they working out? I need a bit of advice on my build. I need to decide whether to clam shell hinge (easier) or full push up like yours (more room). Any chance you...
Great thread! I just found this and will probably have a ton of questions, that you have probably already answered. Sorry if this is a repeat, but did you use pneumatic struts for the top and what weight are they. I'm building my own pop top and any advise would help. Still a long way from...
