    Help pairing panel to fridge

I can see some advantage to an integrated fridge and battery, especially if you are constantly moving the fridge into a bear box or something, but on the whole that thing is going to be huge and heavy. I personally would separate the fridge and battery system into more manageable bits and then...

Is there a better alternative to the yakima 1a gutter mount for yakima racks?

Meh…. I say if you took the time and effort to make holes for them, they aren’t extra! Let people imagine a use!

    Kenda Klever R/T

I’m at about 20-23k miles, haven’t paid close attention to the specific number, on a JKUR with the 33x10.50 on stock JK wheels. Installed height ended up at 31-5/8” IIRC. I’ve been generally very happy, quieter than the BFG MTs I was running before, but much heavier. You feel the weight in...

BuhBye older Delicas…you can’t register them any more in Maine (is this the start of scary and problematic new trend?)

To that point, it would be interesting to see how they deal with postal delivery, garbage pickup, snow removal, often those vehicles are right hand drive. I wonder if they base the right hand drive restriction on some sort of perceived safety argument? It seems to be either hypocritical if...

    Retro Wrangler inspired JKU build

I think chromed plastic is going to be the winner here. The steel just holds too much heat in my opinion.

Looking for recommendations on some decent cheap 100w rigid solar panels

I have no way or desire to measure the full load output, but I bought and installed 2x100W Renogy panels a while back and have been happy with the construction, price, durability, shipping speed, etc… Sun availability is so varied that I doubt going out of your way to seek that last 1/10 amp is...

    Retro Wrangler inspired JKU build

I would be careful with stainless handles, they look great, but where I live, at 122 in the shade today, sun plus stainless door handles equal burned hands unless you only wear gloves to drive in! It looks like you might be in Austin, the heat there is different, but the risk is similar.

    Anyone replace a JK key?

Woo-hoo! Success! I’m not sure what was wrong, but I think the battery wasn’t seated properly in the key. I opened it up to check the battery voltage and it looked a little crooked. I think it wasn’t making contact properly. The key snapped shut much more smoothly, and then JScan programmed it...

    Anyone replace a JK key?

I got mine from Amazon, 2 for $32. If they work, I’ll post a link. I didn’t have to get them cut, although Ace Hardware gave me a bunch of crap when I asked if they would. I just lifted the electronics out and put them in my dead key body that was already cut. Along the way I killed that key...

    Anyone replace a JK key?

Quick update, the internet seems to have many stories of people claiming to have used Jscan successfully to program keys. For me, not so much. It reads the PIN, but when trying to write the new key it tells me I’ve entered the incorrect PIN. I have a few ideas to mess with, but I’m not sure...

Need help completing my solar setup for 12v fridge

You sound alike you are going to spend $$ just to be able to see how much power the fridge is using. You could also do this by starting with full batteries and assuming that all power through the controller went to the fridge. Or, ask yourself what benefit having that information will serve...

M10a2 camping/ utility trailer - what battery do I choose?

Another strategy, one that I’ve chosen, is to match your trailer battery to your truck battery, creating a readily swappable spare if needed. In my case, I’m running “marine” dual purpose group 27 batteries in both positions. I haven’t run them long enough to know if there will be a likely...

    Anyone replace a JK key?

Not sure what happened, but my 2014 JK key fob is destroyed, it appears to be filled with oil or maybe the battery leaked. The circuit board disintegrated. The dealership wants $180 for the part, $180 for the labor, and taxes and whatnot… say $400-450. Amazon has 2 for $32 and I already have...

Dad, what's a back country beater? What will your kiddos remember later in life?

Beaters are awesome, I have a rich (poor) history of driving them too. But some things are just better now. I’ve never had anyone put their foot through the floor of my JK, or have to separate an exterior door skin with an axe on the side of the highway because it was flapping so bad it became...

Better way to attach to battery?

I would jus cut a little notch in that cover so it sits down smoothly?

    Timbren 4" Axle-Less Suspension + Parking Brake?

Not exactly the answer you are seeking, but I usually just chock my trailers. In cases of temporary or immediate need for a parking brake, I pull out the breakaway switch, thus setting the electric brakes. The trailer battery is huge in comparison to those little breakaway units, so it will...

Main Battery in engine bay too hot to charge with MPPT?

I do something similar to what you are. I did not use a temp probe as I was sure the battery would be too hot to charge. It does cook off some water. my solution: use cheap FLA battery and replace as needed Add water often Charge controller is inside the footwell about 3 wire feet from the...

    Any Budget Friendly Advice?

There is a pretty healthy used market. You tend to see a lot of “used one weekend” types of ads. I believe this is a combination of ridiculous sales overstatement and “wife didn’t like it”…

Scepter water can to hose quick connect

Making this was pretty cool, but I agree with the question above and it begs the questions below: So, if they are straight through, where is the advantage versus just threading into the can? How do you close that for travel? Unscrew it then screw the top back on?
