Fusos at the 2018 Abenteuer & Allrad

I was that the 2018 Abenteuer & Allrad in Bad Kissingen last week, so I thought I would post some photos of the Fuso that were there, both at the show and in the camping area.

    Mercedes at the NW Overland Rally 6/28 - 7/1 2018 ?

I'll be heading up in my 1017AF from Southern Oregon, and connecting with my friend and his T1N Sprinter Van in the Portland area. We will take I84 out of Portland over to Hwy 97 and then up to the rally via Yakama. Are any other Mercedes LKWs, Unimogs, Sprinters, 813/409/etc planning on...

OBD Scan Tool / Diagnosic Software

It depends on the year. The 'old' Fuso's fault codes can be read by blinking lights (connecting 2 pigtail connections under the dash), not the easiest way to read them, but it works and is free. The 'new' Fusos need the factory STAR/Xentry diagnostic system at about $5000.

    Expedition Vehicle selection thoughts?

I can't speak for the smaller 41" tires, but the 47" 395/85-20 XML tires (mount on Atlas MRAP wheels) run smooth as silk with no balancing on my 1017AF. There are no balancing weights (and no beads inside). I will be missing the Overland Expo, as I will be at the Abenteuer Allrad show in Bad...

    MB 917a manual

The EIC / EPC I bought was just the 'generic' Mercedes one. But it does cover my truck, 1979 1017A, all the way to my 2017 CLS. Hard manuals are certainly much easier to work with, but obtaining them is next to impossible. Bill spent years hunting down the English manuals he scanned. You can buy...

    MB 917a manual

Bill Caid has scans of paper manuals for the 1017A on his website. These are probably pretty dated for your newer truck, but they will give you a place to start. http://www.billcaid.com/TruckDocs/1017ADocumentation.htm These are in English, so that is a big help. A tip on the EIC and EPC is you...

    MB 917a manual

Operator or Workshop Manual? I found my 1017A operators manual in English on the UK eBay, so keep an eye out there. They come up every so often. The workshop, you can buy the Mercedes EIC and EPC digitally again via eBay. Huge files, 75GB as it will cover every Mercedes made. My '79 1017A is...

RHD 1992 Toyota Hiace Diesel 4x4 Double Cab Doka Truck Van with UTE bed - Boise,ID

I guess my 39 year old Mercedes 1017AF did not get that 'memo'. It is another 'firetruck' with 14,000 total miles, and zero problems. There is a big difference between a truck used hard, or military surplus that have been sitting and fire trucks that have been maintained on a weekly basis. The...

Usually the Factory Limited Slip diff in the rear, which works very well, but is not 'locking'. Two options for the front. E-locker (locked, unlocked) or ATB (automatic torque bias).

    M1079 Camper

Pretty much the same thing on my 1017AF that is 4x2 when in 'road' selection (4x4 is engaged in low range only). 10.7 to 13.4 mpg on a 1300 mile trip recently (62 mph average). I have AVM selectable hubs to install to see if that helps any with mileage.

    Yes another Fuso SRW thread.....sorry.....

I have MRAP wheels (Atlas) on my MB1017AF and also own a '02 Fuso FG with super singles, and there is no way MRAP wheels will work on the FG. 1. They have a 100% offset (11-11.25" backspacing), so they will not be close to running in the same track when reversed. About 13+ inches off. 2. Unless...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Looks great! Wow, the Mercedes LKWs are multiplying like crazy here in the US. Pretty soon they will be a common as Tacomas and we will have a hard time picking them out at the mall :sombrero: I am looking forward to your build.

Super Singles for 8 Lug MB Trucks (917,1120)

Besides the off-road performance, I'd say that 20" are popular in the USA with all the 'surplus' Military tires. I bought a couple spare XZLs and the shipping was more than the tires. My XZLs have a surprisingly great ride on the freeway and very little to none tire noise (395/85-20 on an...

    Wanted: 1017 Mercedes

Just a heads up that most (or all) of Brindlee Mountain's 'European' Fire trucks are still in Europe, not stateside. If you search each truck, they are normally being brokered for a dealer overseas.
