    Pro-Rig V2.0 - Home Built Compact Composite Pop-up

Took a few days off from Pro-Rigging, back at it today. The re-design on the door led to lots of work but both parts are essentially done. Got some paint on the inside of the upper piece and the lower I wound up adding a 1/4" lip to the inside edges to get more compression on the bulb...

Pretty thick. Basically until it flows over the edges. It's like some spots are hydrophobic (epoxyphobic?) and just don't want to stay filled in.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't know how many times I read through that article - new little pieces would make sense each time. Just looked up the FireFly carbon foam - interesting! Wonder if it likes standard charging profile? Looks impressive at first glance. Really interesting thought on the...

    Pro-Rig V2.0 - Home Built Compact Composite Pop-up

Been mostly focused on the door re-design. Got the lower half of the door reinforced and the step glassed in. Ready for paint. Step may need to be deeper but went low profile for the first iteration. Big accomplishment today was cutting and installing the aluminum z-bar around the inside of...

I hadn't thought about a pre-made teak grate - good idea. Those are pretty nice, need to look around and see if I can find one with the right dimensions. Something like the second one could be trimmed to fit I imagine.

Congratulations on the new rig! Look forward to the build. Nothing new on the battery set up - been focused on building. But, good news is I might only be a few weeks away from getting it on the truck. At which time I'll be doing more testing related to charging off the alternator. Really...

Most progress in the last few days has been on sanding and fairing, which is basically done :wings: Today we did a re-pour on the counter top epoxy. The first attempt wasn't great to start with and then a bunch of tiny fly things decided to entomb themselves in the epoxy, leaving a bunch of...

Got some help today so made some progress on a few fronts. Got the edge/trim pieces of the table cut. Who knew oak was so hard to stain dark? After much trial an error and some interweb searching I found that a real dark stain gel was pretty effective. With my helper wiping the stain on and me...

Yeah, looking really great. I'll pile on with the questions... Did you use the RO Topside paint? Did you sand/scuff the aluminum before the primer? Also love the vinyl sticker idea. Been wondering how to add some graphics, looks like that's the ticket. matt

I'm going to paint over the 5200 so not worried about UV. I am a bit worried about paint sticking to the 5200 but some claim it works fine.

Thanks! Started a big step finally. Got the slide-up out and got the corners and other aluminum pieces glued in. Corners aren't perfect but hey, that's what grinders are for! The top inside edge is covered by angle. It will hide the end grain, be the "gutter" to keep water out when the pop...

Yeah, free floating probably helps with thermal expansion/contraction, I'll do the same. This particular stuff said not to use foam so I obeyed. Got the pieces cut and laid out. Need to do the trim and edges still. Nice to get some color/contrast in to the mix! "Bathroom" at right gets the...

Yes, the pop top will be front hinged. The bulb seal will go all the way around the front too - hopefully sealing all the way around. Hmm, the double seal idea makes a lot of sense. I think I could still do that if needed. I have been toying with the idea of a positive pressure system of some...

Good to know on the planks. Yours turned out really nice. Did you glue yours down to the sub-floor? In regards to the cabinets, thanks, but I'm officially retired from cabinet making! :sombrero: Nothing much of substance to report. I've done a couple charge cycles to let the cell boards do a...

Busy weekend pro-riggin' Lots of cutting aluminum, more painting and, what else, more sanding! Roof is getting close to completion. Aluminum channel all the way around the inside and Al end pieces to cover the exposed core. Al channel will hold the bulb seal like so Hoping this will be...

The pulls on the cabinets are from Amazon - bunch of different styles there to choose from. Seem like they will work well. Pulls on the seat hatches are Amazon as well - Uxcell makes those IIRC. Like them too.

Yep, table will be hinged. The two side pieces will fold up and lay flat on top. Hinges are double pin type and mounted on top. They are flush when open and allow full 180* flip. Hoping the side pieces won't need additional support underneath. That just made me think, I should probably veneer...
