    Audi Q7 for overlanding?

Guess it depends on what you mean by "overlanding." There are a TON of backcountry roads/trails you can do in a stock SUV/truck. That's the way I travel. I have kids/family, so no need to get crazy. If I need to hit Moab, I'll just tow my 4wheeler. - So I'd say unless you plan on doing...

Cheap? No truck is cheap right now. But if you get down to it, any of the domestic "work trucks" are cheapest. On the upper trim levels, the pricing is about the same, but Tundra is left far behind in tech/design/ergo. - Reliability is anther thing. I really don't see the Tundra being much...

    Dodge mega cab interior length

I would be surprised if the Mega Cab would be long enough to support your size. Get a Suburban and a roof rack. :D

    High Mileage Worries?

Mech problems are one thing. Health issues? Yeah, be careful out there. - I didn't know this until now, but Delorme has been bought out by Garmin. I like the Freedom plan that lets you use it when you need it. $15/month.

    High Mileage Worries?

Good tip. I'd certainly take proper precautionary measures, especially when headed to deep backcountry, as well. Something like a Spot or Delorme would be good to have. As well as extra food, water, etc. Regardless of the age of the vehicle, make sure you're prepared.

Your CC stopped working, because the thing's had it dragging that truck over 300k miles! I'd have thrown in the towel long ago :D - I will say I don't use cruise much, or at all. Better FE that way, and I'm a control freak

    High Mileage Worries?

Just go! Sounds like you at least keep up on maintenance. As long as they're up to date, just go and enjoy. If things go south, well then, as Yvon once said, you've got yourself a proper adventure.

I like the "new" 6.2 as well. Smooth, nice sounding engine. Good power/tq. Same with the new Ford 6.2. I'd take either (if I were in a 3/4 ton).

No you're not, Mr. "gotta have a new dirt bike every other year." :D Change it good. Change is fun. Change is necessary. :)

I like that Chev 6.2L. Pure workhorse. TFL did a segment a few days ago, pitting a couple 3/4 tons (gas) together. I was actually impressed they got ~17mpg highway.

May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

It may be different back east, but when I was looking for a friend earlier this year....man, the pickins were slim. There was 1 in my state (and it was wrecked--roll over), and a handful in surrounding states. I seem to recall they were quite a bit over the base SR5's. Now, the Trail does...

May be pulling the trigger on a 2010-2011 4Runner Trail Edition

Yes and no. Depends on what going "offroad" means. Most backcountry roads can be accessed with just high clearance and maybe 4WD. There may be situations where a rear locker may help, but not likely. Plus, the base SR5 already comes with the ATRAC system, which works excellent. Lots of...

Bah, even your truck's a rolling computer. :D Trucks/cars are bound to get more complex, like anything else. Embrace the change, man. :smiley_drive: Remember all those cranky retrogrouches that scoffed at your truck when it came out? My reasoning was safety. We've got kids and there are...

Southwest '17 F150 build. Going faster than your average rig.

That's too bad. I am hearing better things about the 2nd gen 3.5's, so hopefully that'll pan out to be true. Good luck with the next truck, but remember, no platform is fool-proof. Even the "bulletproof" severely-underpowered 22RE had issues (timing chain related, too, if I recall). Diesels...

Ford has the turbos, GM and Dodge are promoting diesels. Wish Toyota would do SOMETHING. Hybrid is a natural fit, but whatever it is, hope they step up their game, and soon.

That's the exact reason why I also left the Toyota camp after owning 5 trucks. Still happy I did. The Colorado is a nice looking truck. I was parked by a Z71 today. Looked real sharp. - Unless Toyota shapes up, I'll continue to buy other brands next go around (except the Nissan Titan. Them...

    Overlanding in the family van

Any of the full size trucks with an 8' bed. Maybe something like a Power Wagon (Tradesman). Ready to go out of the box for your deep ruts and monster boulders. EDIT: I guess the PW doesn't come with an 8' bed. Well, a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck with an 8' bed, slight lift and 33" tires would do...

Southwest '17 F150 build. Going faster than your average rig.

Sorry you had a bad experience with your truck. 3.5L is a nice engine, but definitely loses to diesels in towing and MPG under load. As it has been said many times, ecoboost engines can be fuel efficient, but it largely depends on your driving habits. Of course, your larger wheels and mods...
