    3000lb everyday towing? Tacoma

I agree with everything, except I'll add if you get an LC100, find a 2003+ with the 5-sp. Personally, I would just get a Sequoia, as it's longer and more stable. And me personally, I would get a 5.7L Sequoia.

I've yet to sit in a ZR2, but can't be too hard to meet or beat the Taco's seats. Around town and <4hr trips are fine. Longer than that, my legs go numb. - That range is pretty nice, though. I had the same experience going from a Landcruiser to F150. Better MPG and much bigger tank (36 gal)...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

What's better than an 8' bed? A 16' bed! :D Yeah, exactly. 100% agree. Now, get to it.

Towing Question - Need more Power!

You're forgetting residual value of his current truck. And with the crazy resale Taco's have, he'll be better off buying a new truck than spending $30k on an engine swap, much less all the potential headaches that comes from that.

Towing Question - Need more Power!

No kidding. I am seeing more of those new F250/350's. Yeah, I could've bought one for the same price as my F150. More towing, more payload.... Then I look at my empty bed (ok, a shovel and some firewood), and 95% of the time, I don't need all that. But just think of how many bikes you can...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

Ha ha. Forget the little puny Taco. Who needs to fit through trails when you can make your own?? :D - I will admit, though, I saw an F550 pulling a TT the other day. I'm not one for oogling after big "macho" Tonka trucks, but it looked pretty cool.

Towing Question - Need more Power!

Those GMC 6.0/6.2 engines are great. My pops had an 04 2500 with the 6.0 gas engine, and that thing was a work horse. Went 200k miles and was still going strong before he gave it to a foreman to use. But I still like my ecoboost better. :D - One issue with the Ecodiesel--payload. It tows...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

So it's bigger, right? :) My suggestion wa based on several factors. The Tundra has better resale. But these are the advantages of the F150: - Better towing (although at 4K lbs, either will do just fine) - Better MPG - More range - Flat rear floor - Safer - Bigger rear seat! :D - Yukon's would...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

They're close. But compare the specs side to side. I always thought the Tundra Crewmax was the biggest, but the F150 edges it out.

Towing Question - Need more Power!

Check out the F150 Supercrew. Biggest back seat, other than Ram Megacab. You can put your son on one side, flip up the seat on the other. With the flat floor, there will be plenty of space for your dogs. Then you get the ginormous cargo space in the bed (go for the 6.5').

From a Grand Cherokee To A.....

Despite my utter distain for the newer gen Titans (so ugly), I actually like the Armadas. I think the 4WD system is adequate, with its low range. It doesn't have the rear locker like the Patrol, but neither does the new LC's. Hill descent, terrain select, blah blah--I never used that crap...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

That would about accomplish the same thing as a supercharger. And from his response, he's also looking to gain comfort and range, so seems he's decided on a full-size. - Also, there is no free lunch. What you gain down low with a re-gear, you'll give up on HWY mpg. But for slow towing, not a...

From a Grand Cherokee To A.....

Those "endless possibilities" is just fluff. Most people with snorkels, sliders, 37" tires don't even really need them. They could do with a stock truck on stock tires. You'll be fine with a Burb. My father has a Tahoe and in stock config, he's getting 22mpg freeway. But that's stock. If you...

From a Grand Cherokee To A.....

I think you need to be more specific and lay out some more details. "Bug out" vehicle means nothing to me. What type of terrain will you be traveling? How much more room do you need? Is the extra room needed for people? Cargo? Price point? - If a Suburban can handle the off-road needs, then...

Yeah, too bad on the lack of configurations. Coincidentally, I was over on the Ford Au site, looking at the Ranger. Of course, myriad of config available. I also noticed some factory options include a wrap around awning (with a Rhino Tagalong tent), drawer system, snorkel and a bull bar (not...

I don't know if I'd buy a big 3 CUV or sedan. But full size trucks and SUV's? I wouldn't hesitate to pick a Big 3 (well, a Tahoe/Burban or Expedition. Not sure on the Dodge choices...). Trucks are their cash cow and you can tell they put their time/effort/R&D into them. - Of course, Toyota...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

Uh, the GMC is at 12,500lbs. 12,100 for F150. - Another thing to note: Although I don't put much weight (har har) on their tests, TFLtruck has rated the Tundra's pretty low on overall towing: http://www.tfltruck.com/tfltruck-gold-hitch-award-and-the-best-towing-truck-is/...

Man, you worry too much! I'm just going to assume my turbo's will blow at 100k. Money set aside. Fix and go--like you do in your truck now!! Turbo's are worth it for me here, living and traveling at high altitude. Pulls like beast. - And sorry, today's autos are MUCH better than even your...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

I did say GMC :) http://www.gmc.com/trailering-towing/towing-charts.html GMC Sierra's have a 6.2L option. Pulls well over 10k lbs. Again, that DOES NOT make it a 3/4 ton truck.
