Adventures on a 50cc scooter (Ruckus contect)

Just happened on this video. There are "light and fast" thumpers, but then there is this guy riding around the continent on a 50cc scooter. It must be nice to "have to" stick to local roads on the travels. Bet he saw some pretty cool things along the way.

Towing Question - Need more Power!

No, they're not. Ford and GMC both have trucks that pull over 10k lbs. That doesn't equate it to a 3/4 ton. Especially considering Tundra's payload is about as bad as mine.

Today's tents are so easy to set up. But I remember as a boy scout, having to thread the poles through the sleeves, trying to figure out where it's getting caught, poles coming apart halfway in---do not miss those days. - I'm assuming you'll be getting a new 3rd gen Taco? I still have my...

Towing Question - Need more Power!

That's a good option if the guy wants to keep the overall size the same. From his second response, it *seems* that he is ok to go bigger. If he has no size limitations, I don't see a downside of getting a fullsize. Even comparing a duramax Colorado, an ecodiesel and Ford's new 3.0 diesel...

That makes sense. I thought you were going flippac. I'm not much into those or RTT's. Good old ground tent does fine for me. Or a topper would do as well. Until I get the kids through school, retire, and get that Alaskan, that is.

Towing Question - Need more Power!

Is it just power you're looking for? Would a supercharger solve the issue? - If you're looking for more payload, and better handling, I think you're doing the right thing. Either Chevy, Ram or Ford will do the job. Although I'd HIGHLY recommend testing a 3.5L Ecoboost. Going up mountain passes...

AC will be cheaper as well. Although, if you would rather have a D.C., just simply get a RTT. Then you get your shorter wheelbase, manual, extra doors. - Each, don't hold your breath on the Ranger. But let's hope. :) The other thing is, comparing midsize diesels to 1/2 ton diesels, there...

I know you don't need a D.C., but it may be worth checking out for when you realize a midsize won't cut it, it'll be easier to sell. :D Limiting the size of the truck for concerns of 0.1% of trails seem silly to me. Just park out further and ride your bike in! More trail time!!

That's weird they don't offer the AC TRD OR with manual. They do for the double cabs. Strange. - Regarding the full size parking. Yeah, it's a hassle sometimes. It's a compromise. But I'm rarely in a situation where 10 seconds of extra walking to a further spot means life and death. And it keeps...

    '10 Tundra CrewMax

That doesn't make sense to me. Just look at the leaf springs the frame's sitting on. More vertical compliance than lateral.

Cmon man, we've been over this. Yes, you WILL need all the power and torque of a HD V8, when you're trying to haul that Alaskan up a mountain pass. :D I'd be fine with a 4-cyl on most days as well. But not last weekend, when I was hauling a load with 4 people in the truck. Or the other times...

    2016 Ford Flex Build

Ha ha, my wife loves her Outback. I tried talking her into a Flex but she doesn't like it. I think they look pretty cool. AWD station wagons is what they are to me. I wouldn't mind one as a daily driver myself. Seems like they'd be super useful.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 first drive reviews

Yeah, no kidding! Although there are other options that comes with the package that some will find useful. Still, it's a pretty cool truck. And if you don't need all the options, cheaper options are available. Hope you didn't take my post the wrong way. Not saying you're lying about your...

Which is surprising rruff found the Tundra to be the cheapest option. I also found that Ram's are usually cheapest of the Big3. A tradesman trim would make an excellent truck. I see a LOT of USFS trucks up a local canyon, and they're all Ram's. Basic trim level with steel wheels. Pretty...

    3000lb everyday towing? Tacoma

Now you got me curious. Why 4.7 over the 5.7? From my own experience, the 5.7 was an improvement in every way. More power, more torque, same MPG.

That's surprising. $31k OTD is a great price. But do read CR with a grain of salt, though.

    3000lb everyday towing? Tacoma

Regear for pulling a 3k lb trailer with a V8? Why even bother? You'd just be wasting money on the regear and on gas. If it were a bigger trailer, that may make sense.

    3000lb everyday towing? Tacoma

I grew up in East NC and visited the western side quite a bit. Yeah, get yourself a V8 (or a boosted V6 :D). If you're sticking with Toyota, the 4.7L would be great, but I will say the 5.7L is a joy to pull with.

    Audi Q7 for overlanding?

We've been to plenty of remote places in our Subaru Outback. Your Q7 has even more ground clearance and a great AWD system. Don't get in over your head, but the Q7 should be good for a lot of backcountry miles. You don't need sliders and snorkel to explore.
