My brother has a 2018 Colorado Z71, and my wife’s daily driver is a 2019 Colorado ZR2. Both have the V6 and are pretty nice little trucks. I always felt that both trucks were pretty zippy for what they are, but extra power never hurts. It’s the interior that needs an update. Hopefully we see...
I think you’re pretty spot on here. Chevy/GM has never really wanted to compete with the Raptor or the TRX. I think the approach they made with the Silverado ZR2 was smart on their part. They have given the loyal GM buyers a truck they have been asking for, and they made the guys who are looking...
Ford’s 3.5L is a good motor. I had a Raptor (I know, not exactly the same 3.5 as a standard F150), and the fuel economy and the power always impressed me.
The UConnect 5 is a train wreck. There are a ton of issues on the TRX forum. My truck came with UConnect 4, and so far it’s been fine. My buddy has a 2021 F150 with the horizontal 12” screen and that seems like a better setup with more hard buttons for climate control.
I have a 2021 TRX and my biggest complaint is how the 12” screen controls so many functions. I’d prefer some hard buttons for climate control and a 10” screen instead. Power is fantastic, fuel economy is not!
I’m just under 10,000 miles on my Raptor and I’ve been pretty happy with the KO2’s. My brother runs the KO2’s on his Chevy Colorado Z71 and swears by them.
As far as full size trucks go, I feel like my Raptor does pretty well with fuel economy (especially when compared to my last truck, a 2012 Ram Power Wagon). I regularly see around 450 miles on a tank while bouncing around town, and on the highway 500 miles is pretty realistic. It’s hard to beat...
As good as my 2020 Raptor is, I can only imagine how much better the 2021 Raptor will be. I used to roll my eyes at the thought of the EcoPoop V6 until I drove one. While the EcoPoop doesn’t have the same soul as a fire breathing V8, the setup is rather remarkable in the Raptor. Add to the fact...
I felt this way 100% until I bought my Raptor with the Four Wheel Drive Auto Mode (my previous truck was a 2012 Power Wagon with the old school lever on the floor). For those days where side roads are icy and main roads are dry, it makes pulling out into traffic so much nicer.
For reference, this is what I got in my Raptor after a road trip mixed with speeds at 85mph, 75mph, highway construction, mountain passes, and town driving. I don’t think the lower valance does much.
Possibly my favorite Ford bodystyle. My dad had a 1993 F150 and I loved that truck. I always thought that truck with a modern drivetrain and interior would be awesome. I look forward to following your build!
