Stock Vehicles in the Wild ???

Now that's a truck! Looks like a work horse.

    Ravn All Road Plus

I've had a Rawland bike. Nice bikes, for sure. Sean on the other hand....I had a few questions about the bike few years ago, which he emailed back a few days later. He did apologize for the delay, saying he has been sick (which was true) and he'd answer back in a few more days. Follow up...

    Best Cruiser for my family

I guess it depends on your definition of "off-road". The Cruiser is slightly smaller, more robust, and a better off-roader. But the Sequoia can handle its own. There are PLENTY of trails you can take it, especially the 1st Gen with the solid rear axle. The newer gen has a bigger 5.7L, but...

Southwest '17 F150 build. Going faster than your average rig.

No doubt about that (RE: bigger tank and FE); however, that would add even more weight to the duramax that it doesn't need. I don't think they've even got room for a bigger tank under there?

    Best Cruiser for my family

How old are your kids? The 3rd row is pretty tight on the LC's. Even for smaller teens. - Personally, for a family of 5, I would look for a Sequoia, Suburban, Yukon with 2nd row captain chairs. Easy access to the back. More room behind the 3rd row to haul cargo. Then search out a 60-series...

    High Top Soft Topper?

A simple fairing would work nicely, but the problem is still the rear end. With a huge flat area (like seen above) produces drag. This is why the fuel efficient cars are tear shaped, reducing that size of the rear end. You see the same with semi-trucks. Ever seen those panels sticking out...

    Looking for some GX opinions...

There is nothing like seeing the vehicle in person. Looking at pictures and spec online is one thing, but sitting in and driving the vehicle, and even talking to the owner in person tells me more than the hours of research. Have fun with the new car. :)

    High Top Soft Topper?

I see a couple of follies with that. - 1- 1 to 2 hour set up time. I'd rather just get a regular fiberglass shell at that point. 2- Not waterproof. Seriously? - Also, "the USTruckTent cover is finely engineered to stop any wind drag." I don't think he understands aerodynamics too well.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

I know a lot of those aftermarket companies like Garrett and APR made a killing promising big HP for not a lot of money, but bet they didn't consider the cost of an engine rebuild! A friend of mine cracked his block on his 300zx doing that exact same thing. - I guess I find some comfort in that...

After sizing up specialized's prices.....MOTOBECANE it is!

Didn't you just build that up? Why the sale? How's it compare to your Fatback?

Are you towing a lot? Or need the payload? I could see myself going 3/4 or 1 ton, if I were decided on getting a slide in camper. But for now, 1/2 ton seems to work just fine for me. I have a 2.7L with 36 gal tank as well. I've got 600+ mile range, so I'm good there. Diesel wouldn't add...

    Looking for some GX opinions...

I absolutely hate all factory NAV's. Especially if the HVAC is integrated. KDSS is a nice feature and getting a newer vehicle....the decision is obvious for me. The only thing would be to take it into Lex/Toyota and have them check out the oil leak. Could be the oil pan, or could be...

    Yakima Mega Warrior roof rack

Some extra crossbars and/or mesh grill would solve that. :) But the Yak rack will probably be cheaper.

Stock Vehicles in the Wild ???

I don't think anyone is saying you should take stock rigs down any trail, or use it outside of its capability. But some people automatically think anything off pavement needs mods. There are plenty of trails to be travelled in stock trucks. "Don't let your stock truck keep you from exploring"...

    General Ford Expedition Thread

If I were buying a new SUV today, the Expedition would be a top contender. Suburbans would be another top choice. Other than that, Sequoia--bleh. RR-Bleh. Chrysler-BLEH. - Too bad Ford decided against locking rear diffs on the Expedition. At least they offer a limited slip, though, which is...

2015 Subaru Outback - Expedition Retrofit

If you've got the spare back there, I'm assuming you're using all that extra cargo space inside of the trunk? How have you liked the crossbar mounts so far? Looks like you've got a nice set up with the cargo and kayak mount.

    Yakima Mega Warrior roof rack

I'm wondering if getting a local welder to fab up a "ladder rack" that extends to the front of the cab would be even better? This was a few years ago, but $300 got a pretty custom rack. It would be more stable than the Megawarrior rack, I would think. I had one before and they're really nice...

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

Most of the engine failures were from people "tuning" the engine way outside of capacity. They'd just turn up the boost without properly strengthening the internals, fuel mgmt, etc. Lots of dumb people for sure. - That's not a good comparison. Not only because of the poorly planned...

    Ravn All Road Plus

Surly Troll also uses 26 Plus tires. Good platform, I think, for certain trails. Not for me, though. 27.5 or 29 plus meshes well with the terrain around me. - Ravn itself is a cool bike. But the company is questionable. If you look at the roll out of this model, and all the drama behind it, it...
