After sizing up specialized's prices.....MOTOBECANE it is!

If I were on a budget looking to get quality bikes, makes sense to look on craigslist, pinkbike, eBay, mtbr, etc. there are some bargains on NICE bikes with low miles to be had. Especially off season (meaning you can probably get some good deals on fat bikes now). Look for Salsa, Surly, Spec...

How far can you get with a 2WD and a shovel?

Yeah, it's surprising what those Sub's can do. Good ground clearance (almost 9") and excellent AWD system = lots of trails to explore. We've got a late-gen Outback, which has been excellent. If I were single, Crosstrek would be an awesome vehicle.

Vehicle that comes with 285 75 16 tires?

Does it have to be 16's or can it be 33"? Don't Rubicons come with 33's? - At my local Costco, I went in there with a 100-series Land Cruiser with 265/75/16 BFG's. I asked for 285/75/16 and they said no problem. Maybe it depends on the shop...

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

The new 3.3L N/A V6 for the '18 F150 is supposed to make more hp/tq than the 3.5L. 290hp/265tq. And supposed to get better MPG. Might be a winner in a Ranger platform. - And the 2.7L now making 400ft/lb @ 2,750rpm (from 375ft/lb @ 3,000)---that's nearing diesel numbers.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

They may have to downsize the engine to get those kind of numbers, but hopefully they'll offer something like that. I'm sure it'll still have plenty of power.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

I'm sure the purist will throw a tantrum if the M or P-cars got rid of the manual. Although the dual-clutch cars I've driven, including a friend's Scaglietti, were all excellent. Some gaff at them saying real race cars have 3 pedals, but I wonder if they've seen the cockpits of any F1 cars.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

Even the manual aficionados BMW is giving the stick the chop. If you want a manual, better get that Tacoma sooner than later. I can't imagine Toyota lasting too much longer, either.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

Yeah, I learned to drive in a stick shift ('86 Mazda). And had manual cars for my entire driving career until about 10 years ago. Got tired of the auto after a couple years and bought a manual for a bit, but it was a sports car. I drove a 5-sp Tacoma as well. All great in their own way...

Wildernest Camper on 1st Gen Tundra?

Do you mean modifying your current Wildernest to fit on a Tundra? The Tundra is wider and bed is longer. All that time and fab work will mean $$$. You're better off finding another solution, I would say. Unless you have the fab skills and resources.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

Another added value is in case of injury in the back country. I separated my shoulder skiing about 15 years ago and at that time, was driving a stick. I had to call a friend to come get me, since I couldn't move my right arm. Had it been an auto, I could've driven home by myself. I sometimes...

Funny, that's what I say about motorized bikes. :D :D

You just need to accept it, like the auto transmissions. The black cladding hides a lot of that on the XL anyway. :D

My 2012 Ford F150 EcoBoost Thread

Looks great! Seems like an ideal set up for your travels. Have fun. - How many miles on the truck, by the way?

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

Yeah, I don't mind the look, either. Actually, to me, it looks more like the Tacoma than a Ridgeline. By the way, I love those tie down points on the outside of the bed on the Ranger. Hey hey, easy! Manhood thing aside, I actually like the newer truck designs than some of the older...

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

The 2.7L is plenty motor for my F150. The Ranger would fly with that motor. I'm assuming it would get the 3.3L V6 and 2.7L EB options. Maybe the 3.0 PS to compete with the Canyon/Colorado. - I don't think they need a Raptor version. Probably need more of an off-road version than anything...

How far can you get with a 2WD and a shovel?

You may want to look at a Subaru Forester or Outback. Pretty nice AWD that will get better MPG than a 2WD Jeep. Or at least be on par.

    Fat bikes

I've got 26x2.3 on there now (knobbies), which seem like a good fit. I'll probably end up with some 2.4" slicks or close to (probably 2.35" Big Apples).

Stock Vehicles in the Wild ???

Even in modified rigs, you've got to always be careful. I am in the same boat as you, although since my kids are little, we don't get too much off the beaten path. Still, there are plenty of backcountry roads to be travelled. If I head deeper into the remote areas, I would carry some Maxtrax...

    2017 f150 SCAB 2WD 2.7...Adding an elock?

I think the elocker would help some, but you may want to look into a pair of Maxtrax and a winch. That would be a cheaper and more effective way to go.

2011 Ford Focus. Building a better traveling vehicle (Small Budget build).

Yeah, don't worry about it, man. Just use what you've got. I have a truck and while a Wrangler can get to places my truck cannot, there are plenty of places my truck CAN go, that I'll never run out of places to go. Use your car (within its safety parameters) and enjoy your outings.
