Split the Jeep thread in two: one for Rock Crawlers and another for Expeditioning

a lot of information discovered from rock crawling led to the invention of some really great parts. however, with the recent influx of newbs that the JK crowd brought (as well as every new model change) there is a lot of misinterpretation and misinformation floating around as well. further, the...

    6 speed/AX-15 swap?

i know that the NSG370 is interchangeable with the NV3550. if the NV3550 is interchangeable with the AX-15 i don't see why it wouldn't slip right into the spot. the issue you're going to deal with is transmission mounts. when the NV3550 was introduced in 2003, Chrysler changed the transfer case...

    Ordering a Jeep?

i ordered it the 28th of October. Insight confirms that it was built, rolled off the line and moved to Advance shipment yesterday. as of today its sitting in the Toledo Nitro Creek Yard on the ramp awaiting loading onto a semi. Insight puts ETA as the 21st. the 19th would make me happy.

    m35a2 build....and m105 camper build

Eaton (owner of Detroit Locker) manufactures most of the E-lockers available. an E-locker functions mechanically smilier to an air locker. there is a plate that slides over on the cogs that lock the drive unit together. the main difference is that on an E-locker is actuated by an electromagnet...

it has hydraulic brakes with air assist. if the compressor goes out you can still stop - just not easily. none of the M35A2s came with power steering, Air-Assist power steering didn't come about till the M35A3 of the late 80s and early 90s.

you need 2 of these!! http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=697&Product=DET225S-15&Brand=Detroit_Locker you couldn't pay me money to run a locker in the front axle of a M35 unless it had power steering. no way.

its actually a county road surprisingly. for some reason the state felt it was a good idea to run the road through a creek that gets about a foot deep in the rainy season with no bridge. you literally drive up and down the creek probably a good 1/3 of a mile before you reach the other bank and...
