No the shock is definitely the limiting factor in this case. Well that and the brake lines both.
I think the rear OME shocks are slightly longer than stock, maybe an inch? I have less than 2" of droop in back right now with factory shocks. It felt like I nearly pulled one apart this morning...
No worries I get off topic and ramble all the time. ;) I'm indeed going with the st maxx. Toyos are kind of over rated to me. $600 more for a set and everyone here seems to wear them out quick. Plus les Schwab will probably break studs in the process. The new BFG looks nice but I think...
Also just to be fair, the JK had issues right of the lot, completely stock. The driveline vibrations were acknowledged and documented by the dealer before lifting it. They said they get a lot of complaints but had no fix. I showed them the sloppy output shaft bearings and we looked at others...
The rear icons were a custom length, but brad at icon recommended a part number of an existing shock that is 1/2" shorter. But much less expensive as again it is an existing part number and just needs valved. The will be 15.85" collapsed and 26.18" extended. The "normal" rear icons for 0-2"...

Hah. These minor issues are nothing compared to the JK. I expected both of these things to happen and know the fix for both. One of them costs $60 and is sitting in my garage. ;)
I'm not concerned about rust since we don't salt here, use magnesium chloride minimally and the truck...
Regular maintenance really should have been a priority over a supercharger. I would suspect timing belt too. Regardless it is time to replace it if it's going on 12 years.
We went to dinner and drove around a bit. Aside from the shudder below 15mph, everything feels smooth up to 70. At 70 there may be a tiny hint of vibration somewhere buts I can't even say for sure. If anything it's probably the driver's side CV moving around in the clamshell. That is all...
Here it sits with the front Icons set at 2.5" over stock, wheelers superbumps. Rear with OME Dakar springs providing 2.75" lift over stock, with all pro u bolt flip kit and wheelers super bumps installed. The timbren will bolt in the same location as the super bumps when the camper is loaded...
Hah this has been the slowest short project ever. Last night I installed one of the dakars, but did not torque anything down because I want to weight until it is sitting at ride height. I got in trouble for making too much noise when my wife was putting the baby to bed so I stopped. We had...
Yeah I couldn't find any airbags for the tacoma that came with internal bump stops. Also I didn't really like them for off road use. They seem to rebound very hard due to the small volume of air. I like the idea of running air bags with internal jounce stops and either a cradle or just a...
I have a four wheel camper coming in June. If I was always carrying a canopy I would install the add a leaf for sure.
I know the add a leaf alone won't carry the camper comfortably though, so I will be ordering a taller softer timbren. When the camper is off I'll run the super bumps instead...
Didn't get much done before the wife was back home with the baby. I just got off a plane at pdx around noon so time today was limited.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get an extra hand to help line things up and make faster progress. There will be some tear down to install the upper control arms...
I'm just going to install the clamshell bushing I think. At least that was the plan when I thought I had all of my front suspension components waiting for me here...
Then again I may wait and see. If my company actually pays our safety bonus that they are suppose to, I'll probably order a...
Well I have most of the suspension stuff! I just got home and planned to install this weekend, alignment Monday. But I'm still waiting on the upper control arms. :(
The rear shocks are a couple weeks out too since they were a custom order. I'm trying to decide if I want to install what I...
You couldn't have posted this a couple months ago, before I bought a new tacoma and ordered a four wheel camper?!
Very nice rig. I miss my syncro, so many good memories. Good luck with the sale!
I generally sell my tires at 50% as well. Same reasons. Same on my cars, bikes etc. I've used the better half and fetch several hundred toward a new set. ;) and I freakin love new tires! You can spend all the money you like on suspension, brakes, performance, lockers etc and none of it...
I guess if the jeep is kept 100% stock it may not be too bad for maintenance. I mean aside from the fact that all of the plastic lined ball joints give up, the stock tie rod, drag link and trac bars bend and flex, the bolts are undersized and threaded full length (destroying bushing sleeves and...
