Not sure if it matters but by pure accident I discovered my October 2019 build Expedition 3.5 quietly got a cast aluminum oil pan and as far as I can tell likely some sort of updates for the Cam phaser issue that affected the 3.5.
From what I could glean from online forums it sounded like these...
So some 3.5L things to note. Some time mid ish 2019 Ford quietly changed some things on the 3.5. When I bought mine October 2019 I wasn’t aware of these changes.
So first off up till mid ish 2019 the 3.5L like the other Eco boost engine family engines we’re getting black ABS plastic oil pans. I...
Yeah I’ve seen that guys vids. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have the locking rear diff. Also not sure he has 2spd transfer case. When I got mine most dealers had a bunch of various XLT and Limiteds that were AWD basic. Ford had some sort of special label models which were common to see But I never...
Keep in mind todays new fancy 3 row rigs are configured differently than the old 3rd row gets pulled out and left home SUVs. The floor has been raised so seats basically tuck into the floor. As a result for example the new Ford Explorer has very slightly less floor to rear hatch opening height...
Yep the HD max tow kit gets the HD rear end with a push button rear locker. Yeah it works especially when accidentally locked on pavement ?♂️
We have family near by and Pre Covid we often were traveling with elders in tow. Also Pre COViD I was swim team, sailing practice, Volleyball practice...
I have two kids. I sold my cherry 07 Sequoia to my dad last yr and picked up a Platinum 2019 HD package Expedition. So far I really like it. The Elocker rear end was a big item for me given these full sized rigs they get stuck easily on crossed up stuff, thats the Sequoia failure thats gotten me...
Another option is to get smarter about your more extreme trail use how often do you do these? Once a yr? Or 10x a yr? Once a yr? rent a side by side the savings in rig damage or rig build cost to do once a yr trail makes up for the rental cost easily, not to mention reduced highway comfort or...
Cheap group 31 battery or two with 20-40 watts of solar on a solar controller makes the batteries self maintained in the off season. The $450 generator is your best approach for your destination and winter time.
Solar will be near zero production till March especially Colorado zone.
Not true. I buy vehicles out of state often. #1 it must meet used car status meaning it must have over 7000 miles on it. However! You can buy new out of state if your replacing a similar vehicle while on a trip. What you can’t do is drive a $400 junk yard car to Oregon and return with a loaded...
My 93 80 on 34’s was light years better than the 4runner it replaced. It handled quite well, its wide and weight is generally down low. I will say one thing like all short wheelbase trucks tire pressure plays a big role in handling especially with loaded weight in the back. The 80 also goes...
CA major cities are cracking down on out of state plates on RVs seen in town on the street over 30 days. Especially if COVID becomes a problem. The van life thing is a bit over blown these days.
CA law is if your in CA ie living in CA 30 days you need to register your car in CA. The electronic...
Lol for that price I can just find a solution I can garage?. Storage is not an option in my region. RV/Toy storage runs more than my saltwater boat slip I keep my sailboat in.
Question have you come across any interesting rear locking drawer systems? My dad has my old Sequoia now. If I can sort out a sliding fork mount for a bike with a locking drawer for golf clubs he would be super thrilled. He will likely be adding a intech Sol Horizon or similar trailer and doing...
Yeah when you get passed by a pickup hauling saddled horses, in a stock trailer and your doing 85mph. You realize the US is very different than most other countries regarding distances and speeds. Pretty sure he was pushing 95mph. I sped up to 90mph and he was still pulling away from me. That...
My Cousin has the Titan. Great engine solid transmission lousy mileage. Quality of components are mehhh. Typically the brake system and electronics die before the engine and transmission. The body holds up pretty well. I know a few guys that finally replaced theirs at 250,000 due to ABS system...
All the US trucks seem to be sitting on different frames than their over seas cousins. They get a bendy bit right at the back of the cab for crash ratings. Over load it or hit whoops with a trailer and you get a banana truck.
The newer F150’s with the right tow pack are much higher than 5000lbs. Shoot the basic non HD Expedition is 6000. Mine is the HD max rating 9300. Though I wouldn’t plan on long trips with anything over 6000.
