This happened once before like a year or two ago. Owner forgot to renew the domain I think. I know he no longer has a sport, can't remember all the details but I think there was a post on the forum somewhere.
Some ladder racks are built to fit around a shell. Not sure if there's one out there to fit a high rise or not, forgot to include that in my original post. I like your idea for a rofftop porch! Aluminum contractor toppers are also another option that may support weight without an additional rack...
I'd ditch the idea of a custom vehicle as I just can't imagine putting something together that's water-tight, comfortable, and handles well without spending a ton of unneccessary money. I think you need to prioritize your wants if you need to fit down tight trails but I would go with a CCLB 1...
Perfect. I grew up in NE Ohio and the difference between my montero that spent 10 years there and my f250 I picked up out of western CO is night and day.
Just saw you are in the rust belt...the best thing you can do is look somewhere rust free for a truck and drive it back. Anything old enough to be under 7k in Ohio will have rust more than likely.
Thanks guys! Initially had that exact thought that $30 was a lot for what it is, but I probably will get one vs. wiring something up my self, free time has been at a premium for me lately.
Well got the code pulled, P0475, exhaust pressure control valve malfunction. So a 97 cali truck WILL set the code with a cel if you unplug your ebpv, or at least mine will!
Thanks for the intel. Plan to get the code pulled next time im at the parts store. Just thinking its related since it happened right after unplugging but will be nice to know for sure.
Cool was reading about doing this earlier today. May eventually make up a little switch panel as I'd like to wire in a torque converter lockup switch too. As far as using it as an exhaust brake I guess that would only make sense if I run a tcc switch as stock the converter unlocks as soon as you...
Well, not much to update on the truck in the past month, been driving my montero most of the time as diesel has been pushing ~$1 more per gallon than RUG. I did unplug the EBPV today, been annoyed with that thing since the day I bought the truck. It didn't bother me too much driving around town...
Nice! I left that out of my original post, but if you can swing having the truck as a 3rd vehicle, that is the ultimate solution IMO. Truck, suv, and small car gives you the right vehicle for any situation.
In my opinion with 4 people and a dog the montero will feel really small.
It is 2 of us plus 2 dogs and we have an f250 ccsb and a montero sport so similar vehicles to what you are looking at but a touch smaller on each. I also have a lot of ski trips under my belt with a family of 5 in an...
Nice, looking forward to see what you come up with! I have thought about ditching the topper and going this direction with some sort of quick release rack, but the topper seems a better fit with the dogs.
Well a few months ago it was in my driveway...in Utah! Lol
The thought has crossed my mind to sell it as it is really more truck than I need, but nothing jumps out at me to replace it in my budget.
