Ford OBS 7.3 manual trans or 1998-2003 manual trans 4x4 for overlanding? F250 or F350

Well just let me know. I think he does it as a kind of side gig (he has a well regarded shop that is his 9-5) and it seems like his inventory fluctuates based on what he finds/flips.

Ford OBS 7.3 manual trans or 1998-2003 manual trans 4x4 for overlanding? F250 or F350

Gotta be who he was talking about. He gets some nice stuff from time to time. His lot used to be right down the street from my house, used to drive by and gawk all the time. He's on a few of the local facebook groups, seems like a nice guy. You could probaby convince me to go look at a rig for...

    CL: 1999 Sportsmobile E-350 4x4 7.3PSD - $52,000

I agree. I am an unabashed 7.3 fan but 50k+ for a 17 year old rig is completely nuts to me. Even with only 90k miles.

    Ford 7.3L Diesel Question

I would tell the dealer to start with the cps. They can do all sorts of weird **** when they are bad. Fairly cheap and easy peasy to swap out.

    Ford 7.3L Diesel Question

Being that you are in Billings, I'd imagine there's a few good local, independent shops around. I'd ask the local rednecks where they go and get a second or third opinion to take back to the dealer. Does the truck smoke abnormally when its running good or when its limping along?

3/4 Ton question- DIESEL 7.3l?6.4?6.7?Duramax?Cummins? for family rid and DD

Lots of good, relevant stuff here so far. I would say location is another factor in owning a diesel. Living somewhere like CO like the OP, the power and torque of a turbo diesel is real nice climbing grades at altitude, loaded or empty. A gasser can do it no problem, but the diesel will do...

Is it true Gen2 and 2.5 uses Mopar engines?

Pretty sure they have it backwards. The 3.0 and 3.5 are mitsu engines that mopar used.

    Mission Dawn Patrol

Hit me up when you're in the SLC area. Would love to check this thing out in person! I also have some tools, level driveway, ski tuning gear, etc. should the need arise.

    Pivot Frame on Crew-Cab Pickup?

My windshield isn't cracked, because I just had to replace it to pass inspection, lol! But my core support is...someday I will deal with that.

    New Cooper All Terrain ATW

Will be interested to hear how you like them. I am also a ski bum with an F250, but I am running AT3s. If these had been out when I got tires for my truck I may be running them right now.

Thanks for the discussion guys. Planned to replace everything all at once and get it aligned just to save myself labor of doing components one at a time. Goal is to make my steering a little more responsive but I'm not sure if the linkage is the only place introducing play. This project got put...

Fred the Van. The More We Explore's Adventure Van Build Thread

Here's a torque curve diagram (psd is white). I think this may be truck-specific, but vans should be close. I have stock 4.10s in my 7.3 f250 with 285s and I start losing mileage after 65 mph roughly. I think 35's and 4.10s would be a good fit for your van. Maybe some of the truck guys on here...

Been doing some looking to get parts to rebuild the steering, I have a torn boot on one of the TREs and a little bit of roll in both ends, but no play end-to-end yet. Is it worth buying the high-dollar moog stuff for a truck that only sees 6-7k miles a year? I'm not talking about buying the...

    Coolant Flush Question

Unless you have a reason to drain/flush the block (post HG repair, etc.) just drain the rad. Buy concentrated coolant, mix ~50/50 with distilled water, and fill 'er back up. I check how much I drained then just try and get my mix close by alternating jugs, I typically don't mix in a bucket or...

HELP WITH TIRE? FORD 1991 7.3 DIESEL WITH CAMPER

Availability was a big reason I went with 285s over 255s on my Powerstroke. I also found that the wider 285s feel better on the highway than my old 235s, but I've never ran 255s to compare.

Well I have spent far too much time dealing with vehicle leaks lately...but I think I made some progress! 1. Cleaned up the trans dipstick tube real good and slapped some rtv around where the upper and lower tubes meet. Seems to be doing the trick. 2. Cleaned up the front diff and torqued all...

Alright a few tech questions after crawling around under my truck a bit this afternoon... 1. I thought my trans pan gasket was starting to seep, but it looks like its actually coming from the dipstick tube. I see where the top piece of tube connects to the bottom piece that is permanently...

Guess it's been a while since I updated my thread…been a busy summer. Took a 6 day solo trip to Moab and Western CO with the dog in June. Overall a very needed, relaxing trip Rosie making sure she doesn't get left behind Rosie ruining scenic pictures And napping on the chainsaw Camp in...

    F350 7.3 Powerstroke SCLB 4x4 ZF5 97' OBS Build w/ Lance Camper

^he has a PSD, not an IDI. To address a few things from your first post, I think you have the spare parts covered. Vacuum pump and water pump also can fail but I wouldn't carry a spare of either. If you start smelling coolant or get some coming out the weep hole on the water pump, get ready to...
