    interior build reference surfaces

Any time I’ve ever built or designed equipment inside a vehicle or trailer I’ve blocked it level during construction so I had reference surface to measure from.

Replacing my Group 27 battery with Group 31 battery. Is that ok?

You appear to be really far down a path of diminishing returns at this point, but let me throw another thought or two into the pot... It is hard to tell from your photo how much cable slack you have. It isn’t enough to compare outside dimensions of a battery from a group chart. They are not...

Could These Guys Really Be the Next Serious Contender for Electric 4WD Trucks?

I feel a lot of echoes of Preston Tucker in many of these proposed truck makers. They know there is a market there, but can’t quite financially reach it as a startup from zero.

Replacing my Group 27 battery with Group 31 battery. Is that ok?

Easy replacement Is important for batteries. Millions of cars run on Wal-Matt batteries and you can get another one almost anywhere. Same for Autozone (although I’ve had a lot of seemingly premature Duralast failures), NAPA, others...

    Salt in the ice?

I nominate this for most confusing quasi-scientific discussion since “pulleys increase pulling” or something along those lines. basically: freezing salt water makes very cold ice, it also goes back to water at a lower temp, so the gain may be minimal. Putting salt ON your ice melts it... ask...

Replacing my Group 27 battery with Group 31 battery. Is that ok?

I just went through a similar debate when upgrading my Jeep. My fridge was killing the fancy Odyssey battery I put in, and my charging habits and charging system weren’t keeping it alive very well. Dead batteries were common. If your lights are LED, they most likely aren’t drawing enough...

Replacing my Group 27 battery with Group 31 battery. Is that ok?

Can you? Yes. Is it worth it? Personally, I wouldn’t bother. Are you in a hot climate? Heat is Likely killing your battery. 4 years is a pretty good run. Buy a fast-cheap drop-in replacement and get going.

    victron mppt solar question

Agreed with Verkstad on all points. Your panels max is 20, they can also do a lot less. I would series all your panels. 60-80V on smaller wire from panel to controller is going to be happier than lots of amps but not enough voltage to start the charge. higher voltages are always more...

    victron mppt solar question

I’m am far from an expert, but I think you will have to wire in series in order to generate the minimum voltage to start the power generation. I just recently installed my first system, but I recall reading something in the Victron literature (I used 2x 100W and the 75/15 MPPT) that talked...

Gauging Interest Series II 88” Project?

So, certain levels of domestic terrorism are pressuring me to consider selling some of my treasures. I should have avoided wedding cake. This probably isn’t the best marketplace, but I don’t want to join a bunch of forums for nothing. Is anyone interested in a huge pile of parts that can...

New luxury Roof Top Camper soon on the market.

Don’t worry, I’m sure he will pay. My wife’s friend does. ?

New luxury Roof Top Camper soon on the market.

I do question the longevity of polycarbonate windows in a folded and vibrating application. Scratches may become an issue. Actual glass, even high strength tempered and laminated glass, might be a better long term option. Time will tell.

New luxury Roof Top Camper soon on the market.

Interesting. Not for me, but interesting. Personally, I’m not into the wedge thing. At anything over $23,500 I want to get a fourth wall. ? I’m predicting that 90% will complain about the price. 5% will defend it. The remaining 5% will put down hefty deposits and at least 3% will lose them...

Ignition AND programmable time based switch?

Mechanical Christmas Light timer. Works as a switch and doesn’t actually really care what the voltage is that it is switching. Has time based on and off. Run a parallel source from the ignition and you will be hot when ignition is on or when timer says so. im guessing on that. I’ve never...

Lower profile mounting channel for eeziawn rooftent?

Sorry, I’ll try to clarify my thought. There are 2 basic unistrut struts. One is 1-5/8” tall and the other IIRC is 3/4”. As far as I can tell, everything else is a variation or accessory on those 2. In most tents like you are showing, the aluminum channel you are asking about sits on another...

Lower profile mounting channel for eeziawn rooftent?

Unistrut. Use the thinner one and eliminate the second cross bar that channel is sitting on too.

    M416 modification?

Just about anything welded from steel will be strong enough to step on, slide under a pickup and look at the mounts for running boards. strong enough to hit a tree or rock? ... different story and there really isn’t a “strong enough” for that... easy to replace is probably a better strategy there.

    Frame material?

1/8 = 2/16, thus 3/16 should be 50% heavier. Steel doesn’t change density as it scales. So, if your frame is 52 lbs more, than at 1/8 it must have only been 104 lbs. I only ask because that sounds light, although it isn’t very big, and in reality you are probably talking about 0.120 and 0.188...
