We’ve had our 2WD E250 Sportsmobile van up some pretty dicey fire roads and dirt hills without problems. LSD rear and the high stock clearance does pretty well, even running regular LTX road tires. The heavy weight (~8700 pounds loaded for travel) is both a blessing and a curse, but usually...
Responded to @partsflyin
5 or 6 years ago I bought new take-off parts from Quigley for something like $325 for just about all the front-end parts with basically zero miles and installed them on my Sportsmobile. Was a nice deal, but they don't seem to do that anymore. Looking to do the same...
Very late bump, these are still for sale. Big apologies to @pajeepman and @tjalward for not responding to earlier requests... I'm not sure why I didn't get notifications. Just getting back to checking into Expo a bit more regularly and saw this.
As mentioned, the reverse wire is easily found in the driver's footwell near the emergency brake. Pop off the black trim piece under the brake, near the door footwell. There is a wire bundle there, and you may need to cut open the bundle to access the wire. It's a solid black wire with a purple...
Definite pros and cons to pop-tops, but as far as the fabric wearing out I'd say that's highly dependent on the manufacturer and how you use it. I own both a 1998 Sportsmobile and a 2002 Pleasure-Way Traverse. The 21 year old SMB's top is in excellent condition and I'm pretty sure could go...
I've been keeping my eyes open for an AWD Express or Savana and they are really hard to find in halfway decent shape and without rust. Safari Condo in Canada does a really nice pop-top setup for the GM vans, by the way.
For those who may be interested, I'm somewhat local to this van and have looked it over and driven it personally. PM me for details. I'm not associated with the seller. I don't post too much here on Expo but am active on the Sportsmobile Forum.
WTB: Your 2008+ Ford E250 or E350 2WD front suspension and brake take-off parts! If you're converting to 4x4 and have the complete front-end parts in very good condition with lowish miles, let me know. I'm in the Philadelphia area but am willing to travel within a day's drive. Also interested in...
That looks like an aux AC unit, not a heater. I'd definitely keep it! Very nice to have AC in the rear of the van. Not sure if it's a Danhard or not. Should be some manufacturer's name on it. If it's at all like the Sportsmobile "Starcool" (which is an older version of an aux AC unit made by...
Be careful: this may not be 4x4. There are bus companies that take the 4x4 chassis and turn it into a front wheel drive only in order to get a low body/floor height in the back. At first glance it looks 4x4, but is really FWD.
Selling a set of two "Prime Instruments" model RG-193 dual-needle air gauges. I.e., can read two different pressures in one gauge, set of two is good for front/rear airbags, lockers, air tanks, or whatever. Support pressures up to 150 psi. Also includes four switches, and assorted fittings...
All Outbacks have the 2.5l boxer engine.
Nice car! I just test drove a 2015 OBW the other day. Very tempting. I had four Outbacks before my current Impreza Sport. The Outbacks actually do fairly well for mild off-roading. I miss having good ground clearance in my Impreza Sport :-( Outbacks are...
The only thing you might need snow tire capability for is an early season snowfall out west in the Sierras, Montana or Washington as sometimes roads are closed to anyone without chains and/or dedicated snow tires + 4WD. But the likelihood of this being an issue is fairly remote. Assuming your...
+1 for the Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) courses. WFR is a pretty big time investment, but WFA can be done in a weekend and is offered by various groups around the country. Here on the east coast the Appalachian Mtn Club holds them at various locations from PA to...
Basically the mini with retina and the air have the same resolution (I believe) so will show the same screen real estate. The full size will be better for viewing movies, but IMO not that much better. I talked to a lot of folks who moved from the full size to the mini, and most all were happy...
