I am not totally familiar with the 2F/3F but there is probably a few freeze plugs in the head under the valve cover. Worth looking to see. I had the exact same thing happen to my bling bling diesel. We got a 15* night in early September and the coolant in the engine (put in by the builder) was...
Thanks! :)
So this morning I decided to run the old diesel one last time before I pulled it from the 1983 Patrol. Dumped some Marvel Mystery Oil in the oil sump and started it up. It fired right up easily once I gave it 24v. Ran it upwards of 45 minutes, even put some loads on it using the...
Got the donor truck in the shop and getting ready to pull the old oil burner....
The shop is kind of full with Patrols right now. Red 66 in foreground is getting it's motor pulled also.
Cheers
I am going to say, very obviously Colombia. However, the tiny flag in the RHS of the picture is also a giveaway.
In Cartegena, I once counted no less than 20 something Patrols (classics) on one street corner at the same time. Colombia is definitely the mecca for 60-series Patrols.
Safe and...
Agree, something about the 1st gen that just makes them super cool looking. For me I think it is the grill/front end and the flared fenders. As well as the back of the cab and the stock beds.
Cheers
I have Dave. Really the possibilities are endless with the bed. Often in Patrol or Cruiser circles people kind of prefer a factory bed. Obviously this makes the truck worth more to the pursuist's or collector. However, this Patrol did come from Nissan as a cab and chassis which was common when...
Shocks
Alrighty, also a post about shocks....
Earlier in the thread you can see I raised the front of the truck to get rid of stink bug and level it out. I used some Metaltech 2" spacers and also retained the thin (1/4"?) OME yellow spacer. This got my truck really nice and level. It has...
As you are well aware, the Deavers will do way more than 12" of travel. I just do not need that on this truck so will be limiting it. With the stock Patrol drivetrain and 4.6's in the diffs I only net about a 55:1 crawl ratio. Not enough for any hardcore rocks. So 12" of travel should be plenty...
Not even close to my experience with the 2005 4.8L. I did only drive it around Bogota one day but it had gobs of power and tons of down low torque. The Patrol I drove was a 5spd with 35's and he had rear geared the axles to 4.8s. No idea what you mean by body is 1990's Detroit. The one I drove...
So I went to wire up my LED light bar the other day and the wiring harness that came with it is to short to get the switch in the cab. So I am going to have to extend the switch wires a bit. Once I knew this I decided to upgrade the switch so I bought an Otrattw "LED light bar" switch. In...
That is Espen's truck. It is actually a 3L TD not the 4.2L. Many people will tell you the 3L is a ticking time bomb but Espen proved them wrong with his adventures.
That Costa Rican Patrol is really nice, even at $30k. I have had the pleasure of driving a 2001 3L TD 4-door in Australia, a 2003...
I think so yes. I believe the Y61 has a little better front axle, not bigger as it is still an H233 but better internals. Nissan did upgrade the steering box from the Y60 to the Y61.
Nissan actually offered a full float rear axle but it is very rare unlike on Cruisers.
Cheers
That AMC Eagle on 35's is sweet! I had one of those when I was young....
I have a lot of old trucks. My DD is a 1991 FJ80 Cruiser, far from stock. But for the purpose of this thread, I will share this one.
1977 Nissan Patrol Ute (pickup) I imported from New Zealand in 2003. This truck was...
Different truck and it did not die. I am focusing on this truck for now along with a 1977 Nissan Patrol pickup I am building. I did buy an NOS dash pad for the Mongrel earlier this summer. One of the last in the country and it was not cheap! So ya, that project is not dead just a bit back...
