Thanks man, I use a Everlast super ultra 205 TIG welder. The bumper was done with a friends Hobart MIG welder. The TIG is so nice in every way except speed. It is a slower process but it yields much better results in my hands. As far as wheeling goes I have done some really tight Jeep trails in...
Welcome to the forum! I love my full size and you would be surprised how capable they can be with very little mods. I have a family of five and our plan is to pick up a roof top tent and mount it over the bed so we have lots of storage and the ability to set up camp fast. Either truck will do...
Thanks guys! The ride is much improved over the old set up. It has been so long since I drove it with the D50 though that it is hard to have a accurate comparison. I have a buddy that has a very similar truck in about the same state as mine was before and I want to do a back to back test drive...
Turns out after a few days of driving it around it looks perfect. I think I was so used to seeing it lopsided before that my perspective just needed to adjust to how it is now, or maybe i was just walking around with my head tilted to one side! I would like to shift it rearward an inch to center...
Thanks guys! I love it too! Here are some quick pictures I took at lunch to give an idea of its stance. I would probably prefer to have the back about and inch taller and an inch further back. These pictures are of it with no load and only one tank full so fully loaded up for a camping...
Good work man. Having just "finished" my suspension I know how big of a relief is is to finally have it all the way you want it and be ready to start moving on to other items. Have you ever though about flipping the u-bolts on top of the axle? My guess is you have based on the amount of...
Glad you found a crew cab, looks like a good one. It will be awsome with all the parts from your reg cab. There is nothing better than a big diesel crew cab!
I just got the rear finished up on my truck and having the new shocks on made a huge difference. Also replacing the spring and shackle bushings made a big improvement. The poly bushing kit was only $43 from summit and it was night and day better.
The burb is looking great! If you need a set of factory f250 shock towers I have some you can have for the cost of shipping. I know what you mean about the tires shrinking as your lift grows lol! I feel I could easily fit some 42s on my truck now. Also it looks like your truck could out flex my...
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support. The factory springs probably won't flex anywhere close to enough to warrant a limit strap but I will see in the next few days.
I got the shackle reversal finished tonight, but I did a terrible job of taking pictures as I went so a synopsis will...
I didn't get the shackle flip all done this weekend, but I got close. Between my daughters birthday party, my anniversary, church and the Seahawks game (AMAZING! but I think I lost what little hair I have left watching it) there just wasn't enough free time to make it happen. Add to that I ran...
I was hoping it would be less of a pain in the *** than it has turned out to be, but it has turned into a learning experience for why you have a driveshaft shop do this job. Worst case I will have to have them re-tube it but I am hoping it can be tweaked with some heat and magic!
I took today off work to try and get the rear done, but I ended up watching the girls until about noon so I didnt get as much done as I wanted to. I took the truck to a self serve car wash and gave the underside of the truck a good thorough scrubbing and pressure washing before getting started...
I have few updates from the last few days. First I reworked the drive line with a little more thought and preparation. I used the parting tool to cut the sleeve off the slip and then welded the sleeve to the tube side first. Then I chucked up the tube end with a live center and the steady rest...
Once upon a time in a land far far away I was riding in a friends El camino that had those. I froze my butt off for two hours before I figured out that I could just close the vent by my feet!
I went to the dump a bit ago and the truck was around 7600 lbs IRC. That is with the current wheels tires rear bumper and D60. I don't remember how much fuel I had, but I did have my recovery box in the back and that is good for about 100 lbs.
Welcome to the forum, your truck looks great and 2wd is more than enough for 90% of what you need around here. I have a 4x4 but I only engage the front axle if I have to and as soon as I don't need it any more its back to 4x2. Like someone else said earlier a good set of AT or MT tires are the...
98dango;
The area down there is nice, my wife really wants to take a trip to the Oregon coast this summer and show the kids some of the places she used to go when she was their age.
I got the T-case flange in and the oil changed. Man that stuff was old, I will probably do another flush here...
