If you are talking about the modular top that jscherb made with the barn door. It is the only one. No company makes it and he doesn't sell, he just invents

    Low profile RTT?

Found it: https://tepuitents.com/collections/roof-top-tents/products/white-lightning-hard-shell If you get one post a review. I am interested in them for the same reason of height.

    Low profile RTT?

Can't remember who made it but there is one company that makes a hardshell that is 8". That is the slimmest I have seen.

If you want expedition top + barn door you want Wrangler = JK (2 door) or JKU (4 door). If you are talking about a "camper top" like like ursa minor they only come on 4 doors. You have the basics of the Jk/JKU if you can't decide what you are going to use it for then I am not sure how we can...

Sport - Bottom model 4x4 only (unless adding packages) Sahara - more plush sport (leather, matching fenders, better tires, etc.) usually have a limited slip differential Rubicon - more off-road suspension (slightly lifted), electronic lockers front and back, sway bar disconnect, M/T tires...

I think the better way to do this is to tell people what you want to do and then there is a place to start. As you state it I think most are unsure what you even want? Do you want new or old? Do you want a traditional type SUV, i.e. metal top all one piece? And if so what size? XS, SM, Smedium...

Converting a factory JK/JKU hardtop to modular

Sleeping platform would still be part of it, just would need to be removable. I am envisioning something like Dan from the road chose me thread and his j30. Just modular. I wouldn't be modifying my rollbar like he did though (at least not right now). I realize I am trying to create what I think...

Converting a factory JK/JKU hardtop to modular

I wasn't really envisioning a rack as part of it, I was thinking more like you would bond it to the top, and then remove rtt+top when needed and replace it with normal top. I would be cutting the top like you did in the first picture Cut the bottom of the rtt and then have a ghetto j30. With...

Converting a factory JK/JKU hardtop to modular

Jscherb, I have no where near the talents you do in as many areas, so one of the ideas I have thought about was doing just as you have but then adding a RTT (one of the fiberglass hardshells, one is only 8" height) on top. Idea is someone has already figured out the hinges, tent, and mattress...

Converting a factory JK/JKU hardtop to modular

You have in one post described what I have been trying to work out in my head for years. I love my j30 top but I miss the modularity of a normal hardtop

Converting a factory JK/JKU hardtop to modular

How badly damaged is too badly damage to work this project? I found a hardtop on craigslist that was in an accident, mostly scratches but has a couple of cracks right around the seam between the top and the rear glass (the one you cut in your design to separate top from rear. I have never worked...

Converting a factory JK/JKU hardtop to modular

Might be a liability thing too. I have had a couple of manufacturers give me the "although it can, we don't recommend be because of xXxX"
