Family of 5 trying to figure things out.

Visited Capitol Reef this summer. Stock Sequoia two kids , two parents. Back loaded with 12 days of camping supplies. Trailer is just a tent on s utility trailer ie our base camp comfy beds. We stayed in RV resorts typically in tent sites given were 12x12 when open and 12x5 in road mode...

    Possible Sequoia in my future

Yeah your Tundra and the GX didn’t need to compete with the Suburban so Toyota didn’t pump up the HP. The 06 -07 Sequoia got a power bump. Trust me all the 06-07’s rattle on regular under load. They are fine around town but start doing loaded highway stuff and they need premium and run quiet...

    Possible Sequoia in my future

The current sequoia err 08 and newer is fine too. No timing belt service No need for premium fuel Not as popular due to the balloon animal body. Similar mileage. Better tow rig. The 4.7 is nice but its not great at heavy tow use. 4 runner is lousy for anything over 2500lbs. LOL

    Possible Sequoia in my future

I targeted 06-07 first yrs to have full curtain air bags and the 5spd is a must. The 06 4.7 was tuned up more HP but due to that it needs premium fuel for the road trips and heavier hauling. Around town low powerstuff the cheap gas is fine. I went 4runner to LC then Sequoia. I liked the...

    I have a confession

Lol easy get a 2009 or newer Sequoia more power, more space same durability better mileage “slightly” Thats what I did except I went from a 93 LC to a 06 Sequoia. That was 7 yrs ago. I just sold the Sequoia to my dad and got a 2019 Expedition. Almost the same space, better turning radius...

    F150 vs Tundra....I’ll make a decision tomorrow

You would think. Except you don’t hear guys raving about their steel toed work boots much because its just part of the tool kit for the job. I’d say the Ford, Dodge and GM full sized truck are like the boots everyone has one, uses one or depends on one big whoop? Then you have the city slickers...

    Bug out challenge

Our wild fire evacuation test run last night. The winner was the guy with the 32ft travel trailer rolling out with the folks that took about 8 minutes from waking up to backing out of the driveway. That guy clearly was wearing his super hero underwear last night. Fire DEPT shut down the fast...

Who ordered a New Defender ?

I recall that they are Euro Narrow far from full sized US width. The G is a skinny one too. The Volvo is a fat bloated bastard.

Super dumb 12v wiring solar setup question

I bought a ground bar and this let me tie all the various stuff to a ground bar. You typically do not tie the battery to the ground given risk for a open circuit can cause a fire etc. Look up closed loop 12v Some light fixtures might be grounded near the fixture

    The truth about most RV's.

Yeah usage and season length theres a clear point where owning makes more sense. I would say 99.99% here are not the norm regarding usage of RVs.
