    My new candle lanterns

Got any pictures? These seem pretty neat. Ive got LED's up the wazoo for my play time. I'd think beer thirty would be better by light from these.

    Where to stick a TM-V71A

I think you'd only be able to keep noise out with well shielded cable or fancy inverted signal merging. The official extension cable was like $70 bucks when I looked and some guy was making custom length cables for about the same but had stopped. Thats a lot of money to me and makes $10 bucks...

    National Overland Comms Plan

just my two cents but on a recent death valley trip I was one of 4 hams. The other three were on the nice little Baofeng UV-5Rs. Coms were spotty all day from the front of the convoy to the dust spaced back. One of the guys with a baofeng suggested we go to UHF and things were much better. I...

    Where to stick a TM-V71A

I strapped mine under my seat springs as well. Normal RJ45 extension for the mic is said to pick up and put a bit of interference static on your TX. I have not heard it, and it should vary depending on environment, but I read about it while researching a more remote mount. Fancy Mic extension...

    goTenna

glad you guys posted about this. I couldn't understand what it was from the advertisements and thought it was a satcom unit for your phone. It sounds like a nifty solution looking for a problem.

We need a rooftop tent forum category.

With tongue in cheek, The clothing sections existence is probably driven by forum sponsors. :P

We need a rooftop tent forum category.

I dont think this section of the forum has enough traffic to branch. That and how many RTT posts are they potentially? A handful of manufactures, features, failures, modifications...Its some great posts but not much volume.

DefconBrix | Military Inspired Overland Build

this build just popped up top. Its a long read but do you have the quick and dirty on what military inspired things you were able to incorporate? I myself envy the air intake systems I see on the army rigs.

    Suspension and steering overheating issues

Dont forget a roll cage if you intend on going fast. As for the change from gas shocks to offroad shocks, you will go from bucking/bottoming to soaking up/jumping. Its pretty drastic if you tune them at least close for what you want.

Anybody running Fox 2.0 on tacoma?

Ive never been in a truck with digressive shocks, but I can see no reason any of those can't be valved to ride however you would want.

Anybody running Fox 2.0 on tacoma?

yes you can level and remove lean by adjusting your preload or or spring rate to effect ride height.

    4 Runner vs. Tacoma Prices

less versatile I would guess. I found the same thing when I went shopping 5 years ago. Comparable vehicles would usually see the 4runner priced 1k less. Same reliability as the Tacoma's since they share most all the same drive train. You can Google the differences but there isn't much important...

    Patio's 2000 4Runner Buildup

Did you have to extend your rear lower shock mounts to get the up travel to those bump stops? Got any compressed and extended pics? Thanks

500$ to blow ASAP. Whacha want?

Start out with some nice resume paper since that is some sketchy stuff right there and apparently cash is low so they deferred you to the credit card . It is what it is though so if I didnt already have something in mind I needed, I'd buy something for its resale value or a commodity that you...

    Wedco non-carb gas cans

last time I looked and that was more then a year ago, The nato cans were easier to find and priced the same as the Wedco. Not sure if you are hard set on the Wedco though. Edit: oops I thought the wedco were the red USA style jerry cans lol

Li-Ion battery jump starters - any experience out there?

Lots of good first hand use in there. Looks like these are here to stay and I think one of these may replace my jumper cables soon. Has this already been tried somewhere? while I value all opinions, in this case anyone could assume the same. I know they are not designed for it, but lets be...

Li-Ion battery jump starters - any experience out there?

couple of questions maybe you guys will know.... Alternator dead- could this be left in place to supplement the battery as you drive out? Battery 100% broken- How long do you think you could drive with this in place of the battery? Also wondering if the alternator will damage it by trying to...

    4th Gen 4Runner tire size - 265/70 big enough?

keep your tires and lift as small as you can for what you do with it. Armor the bottom ideally before you start to scrape. You'll save wear/tare and money. Most of the tails out there (in my area anyhow) are fine with a stock vehicle. 33", lift and armor opens up a few more. 35", lift, armor...

LED road flare with long usable storage life?

Traditional flares are not at all a bad deal. If you are picked up quickly by a tow truck then the short burn times don't really matter. Also things on fire next to your possibly crashed vehicle could be debated, but they work well. Lithium battery's are good to store at ~140 F without...
