1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

So stock side steps are an important part of this build. We had a set of originals, pretty hard to come by and I have only ever seen one or two sets not totally trashed. We used this stock set to fabricate new side steps. The stock mounting brackets were salvaged and saved. A lot of repair work...

    Cumminscruiser fixed

No worries, maybe he will bring it to an event some time. I know he is very fond of the Pinz and if you know Georg you know he doesn't stray far from Cruisers. Cheers

    Overland Journal: G-Wagen

Finally a great post from Zimm! I knew you were capable of them once in a while! ;) I have my brands I am a fan of, the G-wagon is one of them even though I have never owned one. But I am no blind brand follower, I know they all have their downfalls. Not being a total loyalists also allows me...

    Overland Journal: G-Wagen

Because it is one of the only other examples I know of concerning G-Wagons failing. It is not often you hear of one having problems, that was/is one of the only other examples I know of. I am sure other examples are out there but I have not heard or seen them. Cheers

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Thanks Dave. The Warn Pinz now lives with Georg at Valley Hybrids in Stockton California. Georg is from Austria (so is the Warn Pinz) and he saw some Pinzie's when he was a kid. Loved them ever since and always wanted one. Well, he finally got one. I think the truck is going to live a good life...

2012, 2009 and 2006 70 series Land Cruisers tagged and driving in California?

Whole slew of possibilities. Prepared by a registered importer: legal Fireman or works in that industry: legal Miner: legal Prepares government trucks: legal Purchased from diplomat or some other legit importer: legal I personally only get suspicious if the truck is for sale, especially...

    Overland Journal: G-Wagen

Man that sucks about the engine, I only recently saw pictures on FB. I would have so just put a Turn Key v8 in it. For $10kish you get 400-500hp, 3-wire hook up to install, common parts, not bad on the fuel and light weight not ot mention brand new. That is me though and I understand keeping it...

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

Thanks Dave. The pictures are gone. When the build picks back up new pictures will be added. I jumped the gun on this build and some other projects have gotten in the way. Not to mention I bought and then traded a 6x6 Pinzgauer last summer and now am DD a v8 Cruiser! I think the big break for...

1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

The 60-series Patrol engine hp ranged from 125-145 during the 20yrs run of the trucks. I think Nissan changed the compression a little over the years and smog equipment also effected it in the 70s. Toque is usually 235ft lbs but I also recall 245ft lbs. 7-main bearing crank inline-6, like most...

1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

This doesn't have to do with the 64 but I thought I would share it none the less, it is just to awesome not to! This is a 1967 Nissan Patrol WLG60. The "W" is for wagon, "L" for left hand drive and the "G" means built on the MWB chassis. Out of about 1/2 dozen body types/wheelbases of the...

    Cumminscruiser fixed

Nice! Sweet looking 60! Georg is a great guy and does good work. Did you see an ex-racing 6x6 Pinzgauer at his shop? I traded him that truck for my current v8 80-series. My 80 is a Cali smog legal truck too. Cheers

1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

So I have been ready to mount up the manifolds for a while now, see previous pics when I painted them up. However, there is a pesky little alignment sleeve on two of the intake manifolds. All I had was one sample that was trashed from the machine shop. So I made new ones out of stainless steel...

1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

I am sure I mentioned it earlier in the thread but the 64 Patrol was torn down over 10yrs ago. All the original hardware was bagged and tagged. However, a fair amount of it is busted, to rusty or lost. I have parted out at least 5 or 6 Patrols in the last 10yrs. The hardware from those trucks...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Well thanks for verifying I will most likely experience drive shaft issues with the Slee arms. They are just not going to work for me then with the very limited amount of room for a DC shaft. Plus adding in a DC shaft adds cost. So it goes from Slee arms being cheaper to them not being cheaper...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Ah-ha! So you did have pinion problems, even after the Slee arms. See this is the real problem for me with using the Slee arms, I have no room for a DC front shaft. The clearance between my u-joint at the t-case and my 4L60e trans pan is 1/2" or less. I am pretty sure a DC is going to be to big...

1964 Nissan Patrol soft top restoration

So I ran into some dramas with the steering box. For going on a year now I have been trying to find the seal. It is NLA at Nissan, they don't even show it in their system. Nothing at my local auto parts store, no cross reference numbers, nothing. Last summer I went to a bearing supply house, we...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

So you have no pinion issues or vibes with the lift and Slee arms? No not positive. I just read that whole thread on pirate the other day about the HF knuckles and recall he increased bearing size. I could fully be wrong. Cheers

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Hey Kurt, I have thought about the off-set bearings. They only give max of 3* though. So even with bushings I am still only gaining 6* of castor when I need 9+*. Also I am trying to avoid a combination of solutions and stick with one solution. On top of this I want to keep as much as possible...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Even though I know you are being your normal troll self I am going to respond. The truck has Old Man Emu coil springs, heavy duty. I was not aware that OME made "monster truck" springs. Perhaps you can enlighten us though. The tires the truck came with, Wild Country 35x12.5R15 measured 33"...
