Starter brushes, wires and brush holders. New brushes top middle. Holders I am sending off to be plated.
Starter armatures, I selected the best of the two and cleaned it up, obviously that is the top one.
I have had these NOS brass bushing for ever. I knew they were for the engine but...
Should rock in the mud if you have the tread to handle the slop. Or just chain it up! :)
HP is what you want in the mud as well as the sand so I am sure it will be better with the new engine in just about anything and everything. I would go the 37's, buff up the axles a touch and grin ear to...
I would pass and go for a REAL Cruiser if they can be found in decent condition at a fair price in India. That or search out a Nissan Patrol.
The Prado is a "light duty" Cruiser. Most of it's components are shared with the Hilux platform not the actual Cruiser platform. As such, if you get...
Ran a tap through all holes to make sure they are clean and ready to go
Prep mating surface, I wire brushed on the die grinder then block sanded to 320grit.
Installed new grade 8 studs, anti-seize too.
manifold prep'ed same as head
NOS gaskets and new hardware for all of it...
No, the only Patrols were got in the USA were 1962-69 short wheel base hardtop and soft tops. I imported the Ute from New Zealand in 2003. I am putting a SD33T diesel in the 77 Patrol. Same engine as the SD22T (put in the 720 pickups) but it has 2 more cylinders.
Cheers
Did some online window shopping recently for this truck. So a more realistic breakdown of cost and parts needed goes like this.
King 2.5 12" coil overs for front: $1750 w/o springs, + $100-250 each for springs.
King rear reservoir shocks 12": $1000 for a set
New Spidertrax axle housing: $700...
Did some online window shopping recently for this truck.
Rubicon Express Heep front SoA leaf pack: $330 for the pair
Deaver Chevy 1/2ton rear leaf pack: $370, not sure if that is for a pair, if it is not I may reconsider.
Ruffstuff misc fab hardware + engine/trans mounts: $300ish
Fox 2.0...
Sweet! Good little truck and stellar condition. I am sure it doesn't matter to you but the 720 shares a fair amount of parts with the 160-series Patrol, a lot of interior and trim bits.
That truck has the divorced t-case right?
I have thought about getting a bed from a 720 and...
Right on, thanks for the info! Plenty of room in the 80, even with the v8. Should be plenty of room for one in the 60 too with the inline-6 diesel.
Cheers
I forgot about the bypass mod, I did that as well, after the new TB install. The spacer is also a good thing to do imo and is fairly cheap, under $100 iirc. An intercooler I think would also do wonders for the engine.
You are correct. I drove about 20k miles from the first sign of the TPS...
Cool write up Kurt and nice re-visit to the truck. I am sure you will miss it from time to time. I really miss mine once in awhile. And then I remind myself how much more I like my Cruisers! :D
Ours were very similar trucks and we have a similar story. I bought mine in 07 with 70k on it and had...
I agree with the p/w not removing the oils. I do not use the high pressure nozzle on my trucks though. I use the low pressure nozzle and I am not washing the engine bay or chassis to remove oils/grease. I do it to keep road sand/salt off as well as dirt/mud. As previously mentioned, once you...
I came across these at KoH....

I really like that and have been looking for something like that for some time. Not just for the Cruiser but also for another project. A bit expensive but I think it is worth it and like I say I like it a lot...
haha no doubt! I am the same (11-14mpg) even with a v8 swap, at least I got lot's more power! :)
I bought a pressure washer years ago when I started having more off-road trucks. For me it was a very good purchase. Steam clean will get an engine bay and a chassis the cleanest for sure. But...
Thanks bud!
More progress....
I was waiting on these OEM seals to come in from Nissan, had my fingers crossed and they came in! T-case out-put seals, aftermarket I removed from the t-case are on the floor. You can clearly see the OEM is much better with double sealing lip.
The smallest...
If in a hurry, I prefer going up the Gulf Coast. It is the fastest route.
If not in a hurry, The Mex200 up the West Coast is the most rewarding route.
I always avoid Mexico City.

Well I found the SSTs online for $185 each, real good price I think. I am wanting 37" KM2s (or maybe Maxxis Treps) and new 17" wheels but that is a $2500 purchase! With shipping the three SSTs to my door is $650. Much easier on the wallet and at this time the wallet is not bulging! Eventually I...
I absolutely love JV and am thrilled I have had the chance to go there a few times for KoH!
Top of a mountain overlooking JV late in the day on Friday
At the moment, I can not think of a better place to chill out and drink a beer and watch the sun set.
It snowed here at home while I...
Nice score of the 3rds and leaves.
Don't give up on the truck, keep at it. If you sold it before the move, you will be bummed in the long run. Keep at it Scott, you got this! ;)
