it's been an experience, thats for sure. After 15 months of not being able to get things right, I am very tired of it, but as of right now things seem well enough. Who knows though, I'm sure the next issue will rear its ugly head sooner than later and we'll see how I feel at that point. I...

Where's the instruction manual for swapping in axles, and converting an entire brake system? Not to mention, on the brakes there were 2 proportioning valves that were faulty from the factory, as well as 2 master cylinders that would not bench bleed (by my hand or others hands), and aside from...

I have the original instructions for the locker, followed them. It doesn't matter, its back in the box sitting on my work bench until I am in there cleaning up next time, when it will be throw directly into the trash.

Well I gave it a ride with the unicorn and it was much much better than with the offset axle but I was still getting vibes under similar conditions, but not as severe. I measured my angles. T case yoke angles down 3*, pinion yoke angles up 10* That is opposite but it sure as hell ain't equal...

drove it a good 15 miles to go pick up my dog when i got back to town on sunday. No APPARENT issues with the unicorn at this time, however I only got up to about 55mph. Will try to get on the highway sooner than later and get my shock mounts sorted.

    '77 Cherokee Chief....

$5000 for an engine? A new long block can be had for about $1600-$1800 from a number of sources. Or you can just get a runner. I paid $225 for a smooth running 360 out of an 87 wag that was being parted. I have put maybe 10,000-15,000 miles on it. I'd seriously consider a drivetrain swap if I...

I dunno. put the axle back together, backed it out of the garage and parked it in the driveway. not really interested in it, and not really prepared for yet another let down at this moment, so, I'm sure I'll take it for a ride in the coming days whenever i feel like being disappointed, and...

some folks say the springs could have been worn or something, but who knows. I took it out, not super worried about it, and dont need to fuss with it. I need to be able to drive my jeep. Maybe if i get motivated some day i will look into it, but not now. I need to be able to enjoy my jeep again...

    Interior rack idea

I guess mine probably doesnt apply, because its a super old jeep and it's super simple and boring....but it's a thick piece of plywood, some random carpet, a few 2x4's and some bolts/wing nuts. Works great, keeps all my tools/spare/crap underneath, and all my other gear on top. Been in there...

(yes i know u bolts are crooked in pic). buttoned her up this morning and went for a ride. Started driving down the road at 30 minutes and the diff started popping randomly. The damn locker kept unlocking (sides switching radnomly) any time there was load (even just maintaining speed)...

It will adversely affect my on road driving ability, especially in the rain. No it doesnt rain here often but when it does the streets turn into freakin' skating rinks because of the oil buildup. Downright dangerous. So, after working on things a bit last night i realized that on the D44 I...

yeah, plus i already have the shafts out and the thing is on the bench in my back yard.....might as well do it. Worst case scenario and i want it gone it'll be 2 hours of work to pull the drums, slide out the shafts, remove the locker and replace the spider gears I figure. Looks like i have...

Well here goes nothing..... Looks like a unicorn....and measured out to be a unicorn. Same dimensions as my other axle from 1973. Diff tag says 3.54, and the thing has 6 lugs. Looks like just the ticket. fairly obvious that it needs a pinion seal. Pulled the shafts and stopped by Vegas4x4...

I like your rig, definitely looks capable! I hear where you are coming from. Funny thing is this was being daily driven before I bought it and tore into it. It has increased much in reliability and if I had to I would have no qualms about daily driving it for an extended period of time such as...
