Well....it's been a while. Okay. Update time. Not too long ago, about a month, we decided to go on a quick camping trip. Trip was very frustrating. I discovered that when on the highway, on any sort of grade, if i was on he gas my truck would start vibrating pretty bad, and my...

Got some vintage style wheels for my JK

Awesome, those wheels look great and I also like the much simplified bumper. But we all know I'm partial to the vintage look.

Haha, yeah, its okay though, for the price I paid and I'm never even gonna put a ding in it. Buddy took a few pics too, a bit nicer than mine.

So, for the first time in like 8 or 9 months, I think (probably a year), I went on a trail ride in the jeep. Everything is working well it seems, so we decided to roll out cottonwood canyon to the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings. Today was the saloon's 100th birthday (they have been doing a big...

    fsj questions

The main thing that i say makes them unreliable is the age, the technoloogy, and the way most of them have been treated. Yes, people DD'd them when they were new and not so new, but back in the day, cars broke down even when they were new. Thats something most people today aren't equipped or...

    fsj questions

I should clarify: Would I DD my wag, or a late model wag? Yes. Would I give it to my woman to DD? No.

    fsj questions

Sorry man, I love my FSJ to death, but I wouldnt give one to my wife as a DD. The newest ones are 22 years old....and aren't exactly the most reliable, even when new.

for like the 1000th time, I THINK we're back in action. Raining this morning. I wanted to drive it to work, but needed my company truck so I dropped it off at the storage yard. Hopefully I'll pick it up again on Friday.

Okay. We're back. Turns out the new prop valve only had 1 outlet for the front. got creative with some tube and a T so i didnt really have to rework or move any of the stock fittings too much. Anyway, all installed and leak free. Also, I'm excited, my buddy gave us a nice bike rack because...

FML. Went to pick up the jeep today. puddle of brake fluid under it. Leaking from the front of the prop valve again. google search for "proportioning valve leaking front" provides plenty of evidence that these are all just ****ty valves made at the same ****ty factory and lots of people go...

yes simply because i dont want to get into anything custom. Sorry, but that stuff = $$$$ and on an old tyruck like this i dont see it being worth it unless serious problems occur.

Hey man thanks for the offer. I cannot run a centered axle because of my gas tank. The style with the early gas tank like mine had a 'slightly' offset diff, something like 3" which was fine with the centered transfer case. Issue is that I moved over a other 2.5" of offset. I would need to find...

Worth checking into both I suppose. I'll ride it a bit though and see how things pan out, then move forward from there. It's something like an 8* angle I think based on whatever length the driveshaft is and a 5.5" offset.

I appreciate the advice on various options, but in all honesty, I'm not interested in having some custom driveshaft built for a $125 axle.

Also from the same article... referring to double cardan joints: They are also used to replace Rzeppa style constant-velocity joints in applications where high articulation angles, or impulsive torque loads are common, such as the driveshafts and halfshafts of rugged four wheel drive vehicles...
