    Spot 2

Excellent reason that I've even used for real! Didn't think of it. :) How I wish that the inReach had a nice loud beep, though… A.

    Spot 2

I chose the Delorme inReach because it gives me two-way text communication which is great for problems that are not immediately life threatening: - ask a friend for mechanical advice or request a specific part needed to get your rig moving - discuss medical symptoms before deciding whether to...

    Spot 2

Really depends on your use case. What, exactly, are your needs? Large difference between a SPOT, inReach and a PLB. A.

    Inflatable Something or Other?

I was actually looking at them, seem like the smallest packed size of anything that gets you on the water, for sure. I guess we'll need two of them. The "max beginner weight" is listed pretty low, seeing as I'm 210 lbs. How does that work in reality? Thanks for your reply, A.

    Simple Shower

That's excellent news! Congratulations. MEC is a massive retailer in Canada. I've noticed that they have begun to carry a lot more of the luxury camping products, lately. It used to be only the lightweight, hardcore stuff. Now they have the gorgeous but hideously expensive Snowpeak furniture...

    Where to stick a TM-V71A

That's a really nice spot as well, I'll go look at that. Thanks for posting!

    Simple Shower

I would like a "Simple Shower Advanced" model that does just that: twist to seal the bottle. I'll pay twice the price! :) BTW, the Better Half loved the Simple Shower! Thanks, A.

Liquid fuel stoves - alternatives to coleman?

Love Butane catering stoves. Got my last one for $10, on clearance. Works incredibly well. By far the best "cooking" stove. Unusable in the cold and impossible to repair in the field. Annoying canisters.

    Roof campers? Please explain

The listed load limit is for dynamic weight. I.e. You can't have over 150 lbs up there while driving down the highway, since it increases your COG too much. Not to mention the forces on the sheet metal. But, when you're stationary, the sky is the limit for weight. Think about it: a truck...

    RTT Mattress

That was going to be my question. I use the tent down to -25ºC. Though I suppose I could have a summer and winter mattress… A.

    RTT Mattress

I'm using Therm-a-Rest pads under my mattress and it is very comfortable. However, supposing I want to replace the mattress, completely, with something better, what am I looking for? 3" of what type of foam?

    Roof campers? Please explain

I here I thought my big steel bumper was for hitting steroid-eating super-deer, I stand corrected. It is for morons. ARB should add that to their glossy…:REOutShootinghunter A.

    Where to stick a TM-V71A

I've ran the mic with regular plain vanilla Cat5 cable for years, I've never noticed or received comments about noise. A.

    Roof campers? Please explain

I think the concern over CG is around emergency/evasive maneuvers at speed. Not really off-road situations. If you have to yank the wheel over at 55 mph to avoid some idiot who is about to run the light, the weight up there may come into play. A.

Tundra or Tacoma - future camper hauler???

On an old, unmaintained forestry road, how much bigger will a Tundra feel? And are the domestic full-size trucks the same size?

    Where to stick a TM-V71A

That's interesting, I didn't realize there was a separate amp. I'll open that space up and look!

    Roof campers? Please explain

Good point. There should be a difference between a hard shell and safari-style tent, I would think. And, depending on your rig, you might not see a difference. I don't in my almost 6800 lb 80-series. :) A.

Tundra or Tacoma - future camper hauler???

Anyone have a reference to this information? I can't find anything saying this is so. Thanks, A.

Tundra or Tacoma - future camper hauler???

Well, now you have me second guessing my memory, so I'll have to do some more thorough reading. My first result: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/gasoline-octane-myths.html I'm going to try and find something more reliable. A.
