Easy, import it. 25yr rule applies, ie it has to be 25yrs old or older.
It is easy really. I imported a truck last June. Just get ready to pay a lot to import it and if going through the trouble, I would seek out a LHD Cruiser.
Cheers
Nice job man!! Probably a weekend better spent in your garage then coming over here and drinking beers with me. ;)
BTW, I may be over your way this week if Jerry's is done with the motor, will bring you the Patrol fuel tank when I head that way. And if you want I can get some quick measurements...
I like the "warp-up" closing statements. While I may not agree with all of it it is nice to hear a person reflect upon the journey they took after it has been some time. Doing something for the first time is the adventure. Doing something again it will never be like it was the first time, for...
Thanks!
Not much of an update but I have made more progress. The frame is all free of excess brackets I don't want or need. I have ground a lot back now with a 40g flap disc. Got another 2-4hrs of grinding and then that is done. I have gone over the frame and laid down some welds anywhere I...
Thanks! As per the post I just made though, not much to look at right now. Once the build is in full swing you are welcome to stop by. In fact you are welcome now just nothing to really look at with this project.
Cheers
Sorry none. Other than the motor is mounted to a stand now.
It has taken a back burner to these other builds...

It is completely ridiculous and absurd. Perfect for the extremely wealthy for glamping. Axle articulation is pretty lame, at least by what the video shows. Turning circle is huge.
Having said all that....I would drive it in a second!! :)
Got a lot done these last few days. It never looks like it though...
All hardware that is not being replaced for the axles has been selected, best of 4 axles worth. A fair share of that sand blasted to just remove any corrosion. A bit of it that is exterior I think I am going to...
I got a good day of work in on the Ute today. Lot's of cutting stuff off the frame. Rear axle is out now and I got the frame all bare and naked. Makes working with it a lot easier. Once I get done cutting stuff off it (nearly there) I will clean it all up with the 4" grinder & a flap disc. After...
Thanks man! And I hear ya, these parts are all 10+yrs older than me! A lot of things are not new, like axle shafts. Thing is they can't be had "new" so got to make the best with what we got. I am putting lot's of love into all the parts, new and used.
Here are pictures of the steering box tear...
Still waiting on hardware to rebuild the axles.
But I am slowly making progress on stuff anyways.
Tons of little parts all sand blasted and ready for black paint.
Bell housing before sand blasting
and after...
Rear brake adjusters, Few of the pistons were seized but no...
80-series all the way....
If you needed a truck I suppose the Taco. But the Taco isn't good for hauling a lot of weight so if that is what you need a truck for I would look elsewhere.
Rebuild your front outer axle as needed. When you get in there and if it needs nothing, just clean it all and re-pack with fresh grease. But if I had it apart I would put new seals in it including the Marlin Crawler seal.
I really can't think of much on the 60 that might fail you and leave you...
Good choice on truck! The T100 has become my favorite Toyota truck. If I was building a rock crawler I would go with an older mini-truck but for overland use I think the T100 is perfect. Especially for what I like to do which is outside the USA (when I can) and so an older lower profile truck is...
Not going to import anymore, done with that. Way way to expensive and a lot better options out there. It used to be at least a bit reasonable price wise to import but that has changed here in the US. While I love the TD42 and most things Nissan Patrol it is just not worth the expense in my...
Cool idea, glad to see you are moving forward with it. Wrong time of year for me, unless I make a career change will never have time during the summer months.
Just a suggestion though...I would love to see a "Pan Am Bum Rush" style rally. Say, Pan Am HWY from Mexico border to Panama City. It...
So our order of chromed parts showed up today. Here are pictures...
In the first few pictures for comparison is old vs new.
The back of the mirror head gets painted black.
Cheers
After more than 15 minutes of searching I failed to find a picture of one but...
It is adapted from a tractor or that is at least where he got the idea. I see the same set up on tractors all the time in Eastern Idaho. It is chain driven with no actual axle shaft between the wheels which allows...
