Interior fit out - what are the practicalities of white interior

I agreed 100% with that - looking at some 4-5 year old RV and you think it was something out of the 70's in some cases. An all white interior never really dates.

Interior fit out - what are the practicalities of white interior

The wife says she likes the look of the Unicat interior- I think what that means is that it has been decided. :suning:

Interior fit out - what are the practicalities of white interior

The guy building it is a precision woodworker - he does all sorts of custom woodwork, from restoring things like 50 year old Chris craft and 18th century carriages to high end yachts and even things like gun stocks. My build will be simple y his standards, and whilst I could save a bit of...

    Unimog Camper ALERT

I hope Charlie is still in the US at the moment, I know they are coming out here in Feb, but they may want to wait a bit to see how much of Queensland is left after Cyclone Yasi has passed through.

Interior fit out - what are the practicalities of white interior

I'm not use what Unicat use, but mine very light weight - a composite consisting of 1.8mm ply, 12mm structural foam/ 1.8mm or 4mm ply. All up, the interior lining and furniture should weight around 100-120kg - at least that's what the people making them have worked out. The teak is only 5mm...

Interior fit out - what are the practicalities of white interior

Thanks, that what we were thinking as well, but I just wanted to make sure in case I got 100 replies saying white was the worst possible colour as it was always dirty / impossible to keep clean etc etc. We are going with a real teak floor, and most likely teak inserts into the cabinets

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hi Hilmar - it is a "Nature's Head" - http://www.natureshead.net/ It has been recommend to me by a few people - time will tell if it works well or not but in theory it's a great idea.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

This week I realised that in a short time, I will be where most people start building their campers, with some sort of a camper box. It has been almost a year since I started building the frame - whilst the last 5 months has more or less been fixing all the mechanical parts on the Mog itself...

Interior fit out - what are the practicalities of white interior

Hi all - we are just at the stage where we have to choose the colour scheme for the interior fit out. We have basically decided to go with an all white interior, a semi gloss two-pack epoxy paint on the lining, cupboards etc, with a teak floor and bench tops with some teak inserts. Before...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Loads of progress over the past week. The floods in Brisbane meant that our office was closed, so I decided to make the most of it. First thing was to cut the aluminium for the floor. I made some straight edges from the spare plywood, then trimmed the plywood templates using a top bearing...

    Mercedes Zetros public launch

It's a nice truck - but way to big for an expedition truck in my view. Do they make a smaller model? A 3.7m wheel base 4x4 would be better.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hi Charlie - how is the cold in Alaska? It is a bit wet down here :Wow1: Are you still coming over this month? What recovery gear to you take along. I was only thinking of a couple of long spades, bow saw, axe, a long strap, tree saver strap, snatch block and few shackles. What I have at...

Composting Toilets - any hands-on experience?

I've asked him for a comment on how well it works.

Composting Toilets - any hands-on experience?

I'm at the stage of choosing a toilet for my Unimog U1250 expedition truck, and I'm am also wandering if anyone has some experience with the Nature's head composting toilet. I may be wrong but there seems to be a bit of reluctance from those who have them to talk about it, which make me think...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Unimog Hippo I have hired a mobile truck weighing station and weighed my camper, and as it stands on the weigh pads today, the whole truck weights in at: Front Axle - 2.74 tons Rear Axle - 1.96 tons Total - 4.70 tons. I have quite loaded up most of the bits I have taken off, doors, bumper...

U1300L doka as an expedition vehicle

Based on what I have read - Bill's problems seem typical of high mileage , high speed usage. However I agree that his XM47's and now the 395/85-20's may have an influence on the bearings lifespan. Those tyres weigh a lot more than the "standard" 12.5 R 20's - My MPT81 - 365/80-20's with a...

U1300L doka as an expedition vehicle

Whilst I agree with much of what Stephen says in his essay, the 10% of the the time when you need the Unimog's off-road ability will more than make up for the possible savings associated with a lesser vehicle. When I was working in Africa, all we had was a 2 wheel drive car - you seldom see...

Unimog (DeeMog and BeeMog) at highest altitude!!

We are not sure of the route, but a quick look at Google earth - most likely we will enter via China / Xinjiang Province, and probably return to China and head up to Mongolia. I am not sure if this is possible, but who know what things will be like in a few years.

Unimog (DeeMog and BeeMog) at highest altitude!!

Thanks guys - we would love to take you up on the offer in a few years. It would be a great experience. We are still building our truck, and will need a year or so of testing around Australia before we head off to Asia.

Unimog (DeeMog and BeeMog) at highest altitude!!

Great photos and awesome adventure - I wish we were able to drive through Pakistan on our round the world trip - hopefully things will settle down by the time we start in a few years time.
