Turning circle of a mog and suitability for atlas mountains

Hi Sam, regarding the diff locks, I prefer to lock only the rear diff when decending a slope - front diff locked means you won't be doing much turning as it will plow on straight. I've modified mine to have the centre front and rear diff on three different circuits ( with fording pressure on a...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

A few more progress shots - the doorway is lower than the rest of the cab so that the ladder can be store underneath - and the recess will be the "wet area" with a show head etc. As you can see from the one with my daughter and son in it - there is enough space in the back. The bed takes up...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

The subframe comes off a military U1750 - it was cut down to size. The U1300 subframe has a single oval tube design, this one has twin tubes and probably adds an extra 50kg but overall it is substantially stronger. I will also be adding shock absorbers to the rear subframe and the cab to limit...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

A bit more work on the camper this weekend - I got the subframe and the start of the camper box welded up. A lot more work to go - but a lot of "visual progress" - makes it look like something now.

Thanks for all the comments and advice - we looked at a pop top but found it too complicated and since the raised roof on the cab puts it higher than a container - height was not a major concern. The chamfer on the roof are there basically for protection - the tilt of a truck on a dirt road...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

I agree that standing room is a must - My plan is to have a 1950mm internal height in the main walking part of the camper - I plan to copy the BC Camper mog right down to the paint scheme :) - it should look just like in the photo excet for the bigger fuel tanks, bull bar and front and rear...

Solidworks model of the rear of my Mog. The rear opens up as does the roof with shutters inspired by this mega build up: http://www.robgray.com/graynomad/wothahellizat/wot2/diaries/diary_19/index.php

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hi andreas Hi Andreas - I've been trying to contact the owners of that Camper - seems like they have disappeared into the never-never. I would love to see some more photos particularly the interior layout.

Thanks for that Chip - I've seen those website - both were inspirational in choosing a Mog as base vehicle for what I wanted to do.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Hello all - I have just come across this forum and would like to introduce myself. I have a Unimog U1250 which started life as a Road-Railer for the New South Wales railways fixing their overhead wires and doing various track work. I plan to turn it into an expedition vehicle for firstly...
