Battleship Jones: 2015 Tacoma DCLB Build Thread

I ran the 285's on my stock 93 LC its a nice size. I would imagine they would fit the Taco with no mods

    Trucks: Mid size, full size

Drive a new canyon/colorado 2.8 at the same speeds as the silver slug and I bet it can do 40mpg. It will be interesting if Fords hybrid transit connect due out in a yr or two can crack 40mpg? My wifes big heavy Fusion Energy does 80mpg all summer and mid 60's all winter.

    Trucks: Mid size, full size

The bastardized wagon? It got a reduced payload and lost a seat only 2x2 due to the loss in structural strength when they hacked the back lid off the wagon. Honda makes a slightly better hacked wagon today

Why don't i see any Thule or Yakima boxes on Overland rigs?

Ive had people ask me what kind of boat I have on my car. LOL You might want to tell them "oh thats my dad" taking him home to the family farm. Id probably skip the "its a missile" response ha ha

Market for $80k complete truck and camper - mini earthroamer?

This is typical in the boat biz too. The world cruisers who are doing it in older not so exciting boats out number the people doing it in huge floating odes to modern convenience. Though the number of really impressive modern yachts rotting at the dock far surpasses the number world cruisers and...

Battleship Jones: 2015 Tacoma DCLB Build Thread

6x10 gives you more options regarding bed space vs wall space for other rvish items. How tall are you guys? Would the across vs lengthwise bed work? That also upps the build layout options. Your 19footer looks like it has a tall roof line that along with the weight were really working against...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

Do they allow tent trailers? Or hard side only? I'm in the very early stage of planning a big trip for next July

    Inflatable Kayaks

I'd just go Craig's list two seater kayak or single person canoe. Easy, cheap light ish, and dog friendly. Inflatables are not dog friendly.

    Importing a G?

Travel visa and vehicle transport is a non issue. Just don't leave it here or the Feds will go looking for it. We have plenty of non residents traveling through the US in non US spec vehicles. The only challenge will be getting a US insurer to cover it.

    Wilco Hitchgate Spare Tire Carrier

I have one it's pre wilco brand but the same exact tire gate. Ditto, great product! I only put it on for road trips which is nice given I don't know anyone running BFGs around town that's had a flat. Lol

    Importing a G?

Good friend was Tboned in one imported, lets just say he got screwed from both sides by the insurance people when they sorted out what he was driving. Didnt help the redlight runner was in a company car which was going bankrupt. If you have family and kids? Stick to US spec rides. After seeing...

    Is $10,500 a good price?

Too much. I know a couple that picked up a roadtrek van that was in storage for 10yrs. I think its a 99. Paid 8 for it and replaced all hoses, tires batteries. Only had 18k on the clock. I see them all the time much newer for similar prices.

Colorado diesel narrowly beats Tacoma in head to head comparison

As for commuter car we needed the HOV lane cheater sticker for the commute, Executive level interior for local investor visits and a quiet interior for work calls. That only left two options in 2016 a $105,000 Tesla or a $35,000 Fusion Energie Titanium. It has 50k on the clock and will be...

Colorado diesel narrowly beats Tacoma in head to head comparison

Drive a few of the new manuals. After driving a couple with goofy gear spacing and the throttle nanny / emmissions tuning that dull throttle response I pretty much wrote off modern manuals. Maybe in a Porsche I could be happy with that. But a poorly done Manual is worse than a slush box.

    Tundra or Tacoma?

Question is the Camry OK ok other than the weekend dirt / adventure trips? The reason I ask is that we are on our second Subaru since 2001. Its between the Tacoma and Camry regarding ability and it easily tows a small teardrop etc. Its also dramatically superior to a truck regarding on road...

    Oliver Travel trailers

I found most solar dyi peeps are way overboard on wire guage. Just as reference my sticks and bricks solar system using 285wat LG panels with micro inverters. 16 panels max per 12guage wire harness spec. So dont get super crazy overkill on wire gauge for a tiny amount of solar power.

Colorado diesel narrowly beats Tacoma in head to head comparison

The 40k Subaru is why I wont be buying another one. Wifes Fusion plugin Titanium in 2016 was 35k its a better machine than the Subaru for the money. In a few yrs Fusion gets replaced with a Tesla, free charging at work. My DD Subaru wagon in 3-4 yrs most likely gets replaced by a truck/suv...
