You can actually answer my question! I know that I'll have to cut the rail, no problem there. Will the holes on the rails still match up with the holes in the floor of the RTT in the perpendicular orientation?
I guess I could just go outside and measure it, though...
What a great thread! There are tons of clever ideas I'm excited to try (especially that side release buckle mod!).
I have a question, and I'm not sure if this is the right place for it. Anywho, I'm looking for an installation manual for the ARB Simpson III. I'm installing a new bed rack and...
Seeing a HitchGate in the wild is a whole 'nother experience to seeing their promotional stuff on the internet. For obvious reasons, I'd always thought of it as a thing that you only attach when you need it, but it's becoming clear that it's something that will spend more time on than off...
Man, I've been out of touch with ExPo. There are others around here who are silly enough to modify their Gen 1 Tundras, as well! I got a lot of my ideas from them.
I'm very curious about this. I'd been eyeballing them for a while but just didn't want to commit the money to the experiment. Keep...
Wow, that's a tough one. You've got so much work and TLC put into the truck that it'd be a shame to let it go and start over now. I've heard several times that the transmissions in our trucks are problematic and are the weak link an otherwise solid vehicle, and it sucks that you've got that...
When I do the 250 mile inspection of the fasteners and components, I'll take some photographs of the system at full spring droop. In the meantime, here's Daystar's video of the cradle in action on a trail.

Firestone Ride Rites Are a Go!
Hey guys, thanks for the awesome compliments!
The airbags are fantastic. I've only subjected them to about 150 miles of on-highway use, and so far, I'm satisfied with the purchase. Installation, as I've already written, is simple and straightforward. If you've...
I just installed Firestone Ride-Rite air helper springs in my truck over the weekend. Really simple and straightforward installation, and the ride feels as stiff as it did when it was bone-stock and unladen.
Ah, and one other thing. I previously had a small Delta portable utility chest just sort of sitting in the truck bed to store my tools and recovery gear. It worked, but not well. I didn't bolt it down because it didn't feel like the solution. I wasn't looking for anything particularly fancy...
Firestone Air Helper Springs
I mentioned in an earlier post that the back end of the truck was drooping pretty low and that I bottomed out on the jounce stops a bunch while I was pounding around in the Mojave a few weeks ago. I resolved to fix that problem, and concluded that a set of air...
I dunno, man. They look a little bit like factory flares. I can see how someone could make that mistake. The aft ends are certainly different, but that's to a discerning eye.
Anyway, I didn't realize that Bushwackers were so pricey! Holy geez. I'm glad someone else bought them, and not me. Then...
My flares don't join up with the mud flaps the way those factory jobbies do. It's been 5 years since I bought this truck, but I vaguely remember that the dude wrote "Bushwacker" in the CL ad.
I'm not 100%, since they were installed by the previous owner, but I'm fairly certain that they're Bushwacker fender flares.
btw, that username. It's magnificent.
Gotta make this quick:
Got the Firestone air helper springs and Daystar cradles installed. Start to finish took 2 1/2 hours. Wasn't super difficult, but I had a major derp moment when I was installing the cradles. It was a quick fix. More tomorrow.
